I cowered under the gaze of the alpha, he leapt pushing me back so he was standing over me. His blistering gaze holding mine as he snarled long and loud, but he got off turned and padded proudly back to the Luna. 'You and your sister may stay. Don't cross me.'
I got up slowly fluffing out my fur lolling my tongue out excitedly, I turned to Silver-Mist yipping happily. I was back in The Thunderer Pack with my sister, I was blissfully happy. After the alpha and Luna left we all followed, the other wolves shouldering each other aside to get a part in the welcome.
Silver-Mist spooked easily, she wasn't used to being surrounded by this many wolves. I nudged her shoulder slightly, 'you okay?'
She grinned nervously at me, 'yes I am good. Just unsure of all this.'
I licked her muzzle to show her I understood, we continued running up the mountain slope after the others. When we got back to the den I heard the Cubs were born and free to e checked up on often, whimpered excitedly and shot down the tunnel to greet the Cubs who had been born since I'd been away.
I had only been gone maybe 10 lights and darks, but the 4 cubs who I saw before me were already covered in fur and incredibly fat. I twitched my ears and huffed, these Cubs were at least 2 moons old not younger as the leader had told us before I had left.

A sudden deep vibrating growl behind me caused me to turn quickly. It was the Luna, her ears were pinned back, her lips pulled back from her teeth and her hackles standing straight on her shoulders. 'What are you doing in here!? Get away from my pups! I'll bite you!'
I whined in a distressed way, terrified trying to ward off an attack. 'I'm sorry. Don't attack. I thought it was okay to come see them.'
She growled threateningly, 'I don't want you near them. Go away!'
I quickly left back the way I had come, I was confused. Usually all us she-wolves who have no mate or Cubs were aloud to look after the Luna's pups. It was the way things were in a pack.

During night meal later we had our picking of roe buck or elk, I tore a leg from the elk which was quite large for its age. I dragged the leg behind me over to Silver-Mist growling at anyone who came to steal a piece before I reached her. She was cowering in a bush near the den unsure of her place here, I placed the leg next to her and encouraged her to eat with me. We slurped up delicious chunks of deer fat, crunching the bones and I gave Silver-Mist the hoof.
When we had both eaten our fill we both washed our paws and muzzle in the little fast-wet that passes by the denning place.

I was lost in thought sitting down when I heard a big commotion coming from near the den. A great hassle of snarling growling wolves, I leapt from the fast-wet my front paws already in a run before my hindquarters had left the ground. I pushed between the circle of onlookers only to find myself confronted by a scene that chilled my blood.
Silver-Mist had left me without my realising and here she was head low, hackles raised staring very rudely and threateningly into the eyes of the Luna. They were snarling and circling each other, well not quite circling as Luna wasn't letting Silver pass her to the den entrance. Silver-Mist suddenly lunged snapping her teeth inches from the Luna's muzzle, but she passed to close. Luna slashed her claws and caught Silver on her side, tossing her away she leapt and landed on top of her locking her jaws around her throat.

The Luna could have easily crushed her neck then, but she slowly released her growling softly, 'don't move. If you move I bite.' She gently sniffed Silvers muzzle and belly. She backed away slowly whimpering to herself, almost as though she were scared. She turned away and lifted her muzzle to howl for Alpha.
I rushed towards Luna growling and lashing my tail, 'why are you calling alpha!? What's wrong!?'
She looked at me gravely, and twitched her nose once, 'bad smell.'
I tilted my head and walked over to Silver-Mist who was still laying on her side quivering and growling softly, I bent my head and sniffed her muzzle. It smelt of Elk blood but something else to.
My ears pinned back and I gave a whine, Silver had the sickness.
