I ran around in circles whimpering to myself, 'no no no! How could Silver have the sickness! That's not fair!'
I lay down and moaned to myself, 'it's just not fair.' I put my muzzle on my paws and huffed, that's how Alpha found me an hour later. His Amber eyes were grave as he nudged me up. I leapt to my feet quickly confused, he twitched his tail and nose. 'You, and your sister have brought the sickness to my pack'
I growled slightly, 'impossible, Silver said it came from the berries that smelt of juniper. I'm not sick and I do not understand how Silver-Mist is since she never eats berries.'
He pinned his ears back and growled back at me, 'well she can't stay here! What if she attacks someone else!'

'But she'll die if she's left alone!' I howled.
He glared at me and huffed, 'that's just how it has to be!' Before he turned and stalked back to the den.
I ran in circles howling furiously, they can't kick her out! I can't lose her as well.
I was interrupted by one of the young male wolves of the pack, I think his names Storm. He lopped up to me keeping his head bowed low swishing his tail nervously, 'juniper? Sister of Silver-Mist?'
I cocked my head on one side and twitched my whiskers, 'yes..? What do you want Storm?'
He pranced nervously on his paws still swishing his tail. 'I want to help Silver, she's so lovely and nice. I want her to be my mate but if she's kicked out..' Storm hangs his head and whines, I'm overcome by a stab of pity. If Silver has the same sickness as Sandy she would die within one light and a dark, but if we could find the cure.. I whined to myself, 'oh Storm that is very sweet. But you understand what this sickness does and the last effect..? Don't you?'
He huffs indignantly, 'yes I know, but what if there's some way of curing her? She wouldn't die! She's get better and Alpha won't through her out!'
I pace back and forth in front of him, oh yes it was incredibly tempting, it was the forbidden fruit dangling before eve. But it was all we could think of.
I twitched my nose and flicked one ear grazing my gaze on his briefly, 'okay storm that means we have to go find her. Right now!'
He lolls his tongue out and we race off together to find my sister. It doesn't take us long. Silver-Mist had taken refuge in a small cave close by the den, she was stalking around in circles talking in garbled language to herself and growling. We slowed our pace trying to show her we were friends. She glared at us, growling, 'Back! You come close I bite you!' Her usually gentle gaze was dark and very, very fierce. I whine softly to her, 'come Silver please? You are sick, but we can help you!' I said gesturing to storm a little ways behind me. At his name he came forward so she could see him.
Her pacing and growling came to a halt and she looked in shock at Storm. Her ears were perked up and her tail started lashing from side to side. 'Hello Storm. Me Silver, you my mate!' I was shocked by this change of mood. But it made me hopeful, Sandy died because her mate left her.

Storm shyly walked up to her and touched his nose to hers, 'hello mate.'
She waggled her hindquarters excitedly, I yipped and tore back the way I'd come. Here it was proof that the sickness could be cured which means Silver-Mist would be able to stay!
I wasn't looking where I was going and ran headlong into Luna. She growled furiously, 'watch where you are going!'
I wriggled prancing on my paws and yipping, 'sorry Luna! But I wanted to find you, we cured Silver. She just needed a mate! She found one in Storm, she didn't threaten us when she saw him she just walked right up!'
Luna looked shocked, 'show me!'

I turned and ran back to the little cave where I'd left Storm and Silver-Mist, Luna running beside me.
When we reached it, Silver-Mist was gone, Storm was lying in the grass, in a puddle of blood. I walked slowly forward, not just blood... His own blood. Silver-Mist had completely torn and ravaged his throat.
