The mirror
To this day
It is an addiction
To look at your face
And see imperfection
Digging deeper
To conviction
I cannot stress enough
The thought
Of putting on acne creams
Like a facial masking
Your thoughts of beauty
As if when you washed it off
You were suddenly
"Pretty"
As if you weren't before
The mirror
Acts as a guide to your inner
Demise
An elaborate plan to put on
A disguise
This longing for beauty
And the wrench at thoughts
Effects the personality that lay
Within you
Inside your very being your soul
And then soon
It's just gone
Like a solvent to your acne
It was a cover-up so you didn't seem,
"Too much" or
"Not good enough"
And all the makeup in the world
Won't mask your pain engulfed heart,
So mirror, mirror
On the wall
Who is the fairest and prettiest of all?
Nobody
Until you discover a perfect love's kiss,
Where your significant other turns into a steady
Beam of light and bliss
We are all guilty of flaw
Therefore neither one of us is perfect at all
So STOP with the labels you name yourself
Put you past behind you on the highest shelf
And breathe
The mirror
Tells a lie that the best of us
