matt's best friend glances over at him, after matt had just flirted with their gorgeous classmate, saying "what the fuck are you doing matthew?!?"
"i don't know man. i dont know. i just know i really like how she chews gum during class rebeliously, hoping the teacher doesn't catch her and how she taps her shoes together all the time and how she just stares outside while we are in class and how she just sits in the lunchroom, laughing with her friends and manages to look so perfect while doing so and how she bites on her eraser when she does not know the answer to a math equa-"
"you're in love, matt... that's what is going on," his friend says, completely honest, "and you are very fucking fucked man. she has had a crush on you for the last five years, convinced you are the love of her life. this year she fell out of her crush on you. and now you little fucktard over here decides you have a crush on her. its like everything just flipped!"
"Matthew Espinosa." The name came from across the room, out the lips of a tall, light-skinned woman in a strict manner. Matt's head shot up to the teacher, his eyes now on her rather than his best friend who tends to always get him in trouble.
"Yes?" He asked, his eyes on her strict brown ones as she glared back at him.
"Are you two done having your conversation or should I stop my lecture and wait until you two are done?"
"We're do-"
"We should be done in a few minutes," someone cut in. Matt's eyes shot wide open as soon as he realized the source of that voice. "So as I was saying-"
"Mr. Espinosa and Mr. Jimenez, step out of my classroom right now."
The boys both stood up from their seats, with some students laughing and Matt groaning, and they began to walk out of the room. As Matt walked out of the room, he noticed a low fit of giggles, coming from a dark-haired girl with uneven tanned skin and brown eyes. He smiled, knowing she didn't see him because she was staring down at her feet as she laughed along with the rest of the class at Matt's idiot of a best friend's response.
Truth was - he knew she had a crush on him- well, at least she used too. He knew since day one. He always thought she was crazy. She'd chase Matt down the halls, yelling his name sometimes. She would walk behind him on his way home from school sometimes even though she lived a couple streets down. In middle school, her friends followed Matt and tried to push her into him. They'd tell her "he obviously likes you" even though Matt obviously didn't.
She'd run after him all the time.
Now all she does is run through his mind.
Maybe that's why she's always so good at track.
Matt used to think she was totally crazy but now he's the one that's insane.
