Chapter Three
“Chiwa!” the brown eyed, black haired girl called again, slamming her hands down on Chiwa’s desk, making her jump. “Guess who I met yesterday?” she asked, barely able to keep her voice in check.
“Good morning Flavia,” Chiwa smiled, trying to ignore the bouncing blob. “I don’t know.... Who?”
“Yesterday I was out shopping in the pedestrian area, and guess who I met?” she squealed, nearly jumping from excitement.
“Just tell me,” Chiwa said, watching her friend pull the chair from the desk in front of hers, turned it around, and sat down, crossing her legs and rapping her knuckles on Chiwa’s desk.
“Really? You can’t guess?” Flavia frowned slightly, but her smile returning soon afterwards. “Well yesterday I met Alto and we went to a café and talked for over an hour,” Flavia said. “It was wonderful!” she squealed, drawing some looks from other students of their classroom 12-E.
“Well, that’s nice,” Chiwa forced a smile, knowing that her best friend had a crush on him--not unlike many other girls in their school--as most everybody knew him, he was in the student council last year and also had great grades.
Chiwa did not have time for such things, especially now she had to take care of the twins practically by herself.
“I know!” Flavia squealed. “Tell me it wasn’t a dream! It was almost too good to be true,” she held her face in her hands and shook her head dramatically.
“It wasn’t a dream?” Chiwa yawned, not sounding very convinced herself, rubbing the last remnants of sleep from her eyes. She looked like she had not gotten much sleep--which was indeed the case--but tried to hide the fact.
“He’s so kind,” Flavia’s face melted into a smile. “Speak of the devil!” she half yelled, hearing the door close, she spun around to see said person and waved.
“Heya Alto!” Flavia called as he walked up to them. “How’re you today?” she asked, not noticing he seemed different that day.
“Good,” he smiled, yawning, dark circles under his almost turquoise colored eyes, the happy glint in them gone completely. “And you... Flavia?” he paused a moment as if trying to remember her name.
Chiwa nodded in greeting, getting a broad smile in response. His face completely lit up, giving her the feeling he had not seen her in years, which was completely absurd. She made a mental list of things tat were odd that day.
One, that blob is stalking me, Chiwa counted in her head. Two, did Alto forget Flavia’s name? Three, his eyes are scary... they’re usually bright. Four-
His hair was messy, something that never happened. His appearance was always perfect, he was cheery, and he never seemed to forget things.
“Morin’ Cheevs,” he said, completely ignoring Flavia’s attempts at a conversation.
“Good morning Alto?” Chiwa frowned. He never called her by her nickname, giving her one more thing to add to her list of strange happenings that day.
