"Trick or Treat!" The boys chimed, when Mrs. Sybil opened her front door.
It was understandable, when she just said, "This is a monstrosity! The adults these days!" and shut the door in their faces.
After all, they were nearly young adults. All of them were either 17 or 18. But Halloween was close to them, so they always tried to trick or treat.
Besides Jacin, he came along because Thorne said he'd blackmail him. And Thorne had a lot of dirt on Jacin.
The boys didn't have the most sweetest friendship. Nevertheless, all boys were always there for each other at times.
Anyway, sadly, their age also wasn't the only thing that weirded out the neighbors. Wolf and Thorne wore the most ridiculous costumes. Wolf was dressed up like a tomato(the other boys didn't know what was up with him and tomatoes), and Thorne supposedly had a costume which was his 'devilishly handsome face'. Jacin and Kai decided not to wear a costume. They said they didn't want to look stupid, but trick or treating at their age was embarrassment enough. They just didn't know it yet. Anyway, Jacin wore his security uniform(oddly enough, he wore it all the time. The guys thought he did it because of pride) and Kai wore his usual expensive attire.
The boys walked away from Mrs. Sybil's home, crunching the leaves on the ground as they went. The chilly wind swept around, letting the leaves fly all over the place.
Then of course, they checked all their candy too see what they got.
Together, Kai, Wolf, Thorne, and Jacin had received: one tootsie roll, an apple, five cough drops, and the leftovers of a bag a skittles.
Not the typical Halloween, eh?
Of course, the boys started blaming each other.
"Stars, it's all your fault, Jacin," Thorne said with irritated look, jamming his hands into his pockets of his brown leather jacket.
Jacin gave Thorne the most menacing glare he could manage. "Me! Your the one that tried flirting with the younger moms when we went to their homes!" All the boys besides Thorne grimaced after Jacin's statement.
"Hey, that was one mom. Sheesh!" Thorne responded, all he got from Jacin was an eye roll. "Besides, if you tried to at least smile, when we yelled 'Trick or Treat', maybe we would've got more candy. Aces and spades, was that so hard for you to do?"
Before Jacin could reply, Wolf interrupted, "You know this all wouldn't of happened if you guys all could've dressed up like tomatoes like me. Think of all the more candy we would've gotten." The gruffness in his voice and the topic he was talking about didn't match.
Sometimes Wolf would have seemed scary when you see all the scars he had and his size(don't forget his name). But if you really knew him, like the boys, you would have never guessed he was nothing more then a quiet fidgeting teen.
"Tomatoes?!" Kai exclaimed, who was quiet through all this bickering. He rarely ever had outbursts, but only when he was in political meetings with his father who was the President.
Commonwealth City was the capital of Luna.
Kai barely saw his friends, other than Jacin who was a guard in his Whitehouse. Wolf worked in a deli full time. And Thorne . . . well let's just say he couldn't hold down a job for many reasons.
"Will you guys keep it down over there? Can't an old man walk in peace?!" A voice said, at least coming twenty feet away from. They could make out a black silhouette of a man.
When he stepped out of the darkness and over to the post lamps, the boy saw that it was Dr. Erland, the leading scientist to finding a cures for cancer, plus he was their chemistry teacher.
"Hi, Dr. Erland," the boys said in unison. They weren't too thrilled to see their chemistry teacher see them trick or treat. Especially since he was known to embarrass many students in his class. Jacin was the usual targets.
"Yeah, yeah. Hello." He said with irritation. "You guys have been trick or treating, weren't you?" They nodded. He then mumbles, "Weirdos."
"Did you just come here to yell at us about being loud or what?" Wolf said giving Erland a threatening look. Wolf never liked the old man. It probably was because Dr. Erland laughed when first knowing about Wolf's name.
"Yeah. Yeah, I also came here to ask if you guys were going to the Lunar Cave. Being you guys always act like tough guys in my class." The boys looked at each other nervously. Lunar Cave? "Oh, I see."
"We are not afraid to go in th--" Thorne started.
"No. You guys are really going to listen to this crazy man? He probably just wants us to go in there because he hopes to see us not come back. He never did like us anyway." Jacin said calmly.
Kai rolled his eyes. "You mean you. . ."
Wolf nodded his head.
"All that agree to go in to the Lunar Cave say 'Aye'." Kai said.
Of the boys, all of them said 'Aye' besides Jacin.
"I guess we're going!" Thorne announced.
"I hate you guys." Jacin said causally.
"We know." The rest of them said at the same time as if Jacin said this a lot. Which he did.
The boys said goodbye to Dr. Erland, and Jacin just gave him the evil eye before heading out.
They didn't know what would happen in the cave. It wouldn't be good, of course. But why would Dr. Erland insist they go? No one knew. Well, not yet.
