(Prologue)

Taylor Falls/ Moon of Doom

".. I don't wanna leeave. But I gotta go right now. And I'll be back to hold you down.." Trey Songz all too familiar voice sang out bringing me back from my trance, to the hear and now.

"Oh. You know what that means!!" Daniel, my closest friends boyfriend in this God forsaken city sang out. "Con-Con's gotta run home for din-din with da-da".

Him and his friends sneered and laughed at my expense, them giving him high fives.

"God, I didn't know you had such a large vocabulary Daniel. Maybe next week you'll get to move on to compound words."

"But. Ter. Fly" I clapped separating the syllables of my last word.

"Alright. Alright. You guys don't start" Pamela jumped in before things could escalate further. "Con, do you want us to walk you to the subway?"

Before I could even respond Daniel, the dumb giants, shadow loomed over us and he swept Pamela around in a semi-circle so her back was now facing me.

"And who said I'm walking that girl anywhere? Babe, she knows her way home" he winked at me then, as if he were being charming.

Pamela's head of big red curls shook from side to side and I assumed she was giving him a look of annoyance. "Daniel" she whined out and slapped him on the chest. "you promised to stop harassing my friends. And unless you want me walking back from the Subway All by myself you'll --" she was cut off as he pulled her small frame off the ground up to his chest.

"I'll what"

They made goo goo eyes at each other and started making out right then and there. I stared at them awkwardly contemplating whether I'd rather walk with the public affection side show or risk being followed by some crazy from this sheisty place.

As if the walls themselves read my thoughts the rusty doors of the establishment swung open slapping the wall behind it. And cast an eerie shadow of light around the body in the doorway.

The door slammed with a force that made glasses and bottles at the bar shake.

I blinked away the black spots from the sudden switch from dark to light to dark again.

The figure walked towards the group I was standing in and I wondered if anyone else felt intoxicated by this strangers cologne.

"Hey! Beezy. Kudos on the victory. I heard about it 'round the way. You're the man!" Daniel slapped hands with the new boy and his friends followed suit making grunts of approval.

"Word D. Just came for a shot Mikey owes me and to make my way to the park just now." We made sudden eye contact and then he looked back towards Daniel "You guys coming?"

The words barely left his mouth before Daniel was sliding from behind Pamela draining his glass and then slamming it on the pool table.

"Later babe" his lips smacked her forehead and he and his friends were gone.

I let a few minutes pass by and then walked over to my friend.

"Guess it's just you and me on the Subway then, huh"

"Guess not. You know I don't ride the bus. I'm calling John for a ride"

"Just like that ?" I questioned her remembering the fire and desire I had witnessed moments before.

"Just like that" she responded snapping her finger "it's just a ride Con. Now Lets go in the bathroom, I need another shot."

Pam and I took a couple shots of rum before starting to fix our make up.

At first I protested but, Pam said Mikey (the owner) didn't care if or what we did as long as it wasn't his or in front of him when the police showed up.

We walked out of the bar to the sidewalk at which time I thought I had taken two too many because I never even heard Pamelas phone ring before she answered it.

"Johns not out here" I said looking around for emphasis

"Yea. I know" she stuck her hand out and ran towards the middle of the road.

A yellow car screeched in front of her and she got in behind the driver. The back window behind the passenger seat rolled down

"You gettin' in?" She yelled over the light rain and heavy traffic.

"I don't have any fare" I yelled back to her and shrugged my shoulders.

"You gettin' in?" She asked again and swung out the cab door.

I shrugged once more for good measure and walked out into the spit, sliding my body over the grey creased seat.

When I slammed the cab door thunder up ahead crashed like waves, lightening flashed, while the sky darkened and it began to pour.

I knew then, something bad would happen. I just didn't know it would change my life.
