Chapter 4 : Coping with the first phase

"It's only my hands" James mumbled quietly to himself. He ran into his room and started ruffling through his drawers as fast as he could. "There" he took out his gloves and put them on. It's a makeshift solution but for now it will do. James scurried back down the stairs and sat in his chair. "Alright it's time to eat your toast" James thought to himself. After all of the morning gone his mom began to drive him to school. He arrived right on time and had a fun drive, he hadn't been grounded this time, and best of all NO BUS! Success! James still had zero, zip, zilch idea on why or HOW this all happened in the first place but the excitement made him forget about his hands, oh no, will his teachers ask him about it? What will he do?! How will he conceal this secret beyond the inspection of a teacher. His heart started beating again, he had almost forgot about his dang hands. A slice of toast and his jeans. James couldn't drop his finger on exactly what caused his hands to do that, all he knew was that they did. As he got his things for first period he pondered directly on that question. But there was absolutely no answer he could think of, except..... Nothing..... James had nothing. Maybe if he could fake being sick he could go home, that way he wouldn't have to face the inspection of his crispy hands. James ran into the cafeteria. He tried to sneak into the food storage to find applesauce and corn. He took one of the plastic applesauce cups and put some corn in it. Then he dumped that into the trash can with some toilet water, hoping to scent it. The nurse actually had a stuffy notice so his concoction. James was laying in bed with his mom a choked voice away. He took some earbuds, plugged them into his laptop and played until his friends were online to play.
