An entire night passed of them waiting in a tree, their lives were just a few steps away but seven mutts were keeping them from living. James instinctively rubbed his eyes, luckily he had refreshed this morning, along with Mike. "Mike?" James whispered. "Yeah?" "Are they gone?" "Can't you get that answer yourself?" James looked down to see that yes, the vicious beasts were gone. "Yeah, let's climb down." James said. They both hit the ground and felt a strong urge of fear and sorrow. They had to lock up all of it during the escape and now it hit them, their friend is dead. Dead, completely, known trace on earth. He his gone. James started silently sobbing. The pain of holding the sound back made him have to take heavy breaths. It didn't take terribly long for Mike to notice James tears. He thought it would be best to let him release the feelings he had instead of letting them explode inside him later. He didn't want to comfort him because sometimes you just need no sounds but only self emotions. "Alright, I know this will be a hard thing to ask of you but we are gonna need to keep moving. The wolves probably aren't that far, and we have been gone for a whole night. Plus you said that, that thing happens to you every day right?" Mike said. "Yeah, every day it claims more, I think." James said with a lot of sniffling and gasps. "Then we need to start looking now." Mike and James began to walk through the forest. James slowly, but surely calmed down. He began a steady breathing schedule. "Alright, god dang. Where in gods name are we?" Mike said. "I really wish I had an answer for you." "This is bull, we didn't even go that far in." "We what? We didn't go far?! I think you need to see a doctor because you have lost it." "No for me we went less than two steps in." "We were up in a tree for one night, how did you already break?" I usually go all the way in or as much as I know all the way. You're the new noob so I decided to take you in only normal people far." "I thought we were friends." "WE ARE! OKAY?!" "Why are you being such an a-" "We are both trapped in a forest with flesh craving wolves and Mark is DEAD! ANY ATTITUDE QUESTIONS?!?!?" James didn't respond. It was a silent walk before Mike said "We need to stop." "Why?" James replied. My legs are murderously aching, I need to sit down." "I gues-" "No you know." James and mike sat down. The pressure off his leg felt good as the feeling spread up and down his legs. "Y'know it's really funny how easily you can get put into a situation like this." James said wiping the tears from his eyes when he felt a sharp pain. He had a splinter. It had already begun. "Oh hey arms and legs... That's new." Mike said with a bored tone in his voice. James wasn't startled. He just wondered if this could kill him. It could have the potential to kill him. If this infection, thing could take him over. No he couldn't, shouldn't, and wouldn't think in that mindset. "We need to start walking again." "Yeah but this feels so good. We should just stay." Mike replied. Suddenly they saw that their chests had in a snap been converted as well. "Alright then laziness does this aswell, good to know." James said. "Yeah I agree now, we should go." Mike replied. "Make a mental note,-" "Oh I will make twelve." Then like always they were on the walk, but this time it was harder to move with your entire lower body taken over.
