*AUTHOR'S NOTE* There is one part of this scene that is not in the musical. I want to see an actor do this part in the show. I saw an actor from I think the Netherlands version do something similar, but not really what I imagined. Let me know what you think of that specific part when you read it.
"You have brought me to that moment when words run dry. To that moment when speech disappears into silence, silence. I have come here, hardly knowing the reason why." Raising my hands, rubbing them down my body and interlocking my fingers, I continue "In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenseless and silent." I look over at Piangi and as I talk towards him, lower my voice slightly and coo "and now, I am here with you, no second thoughts. I've decided, decided". By now I am leaning against the table, my back to Piangi.
"Past the point of no return, no going back now, our passion play has now at last begun!" I walk over to the bench and prop my leg up on it, showing off some skin. Lowering my leg back to the ground I walk behind Piangi and as I put my arms out in front of him sing "Past all thought of right, or wrong". Pressing my hands onto his lower back, the song goes on "One final question" I move my hands up his back in sync with his hands that he raises up above his shoulders. I ask the question "How long should we two wait before we're one?" We interlace our fingers and Piangi's hands tighten around mine. Wow, why are his hands so cold?
I guide our locked hands down Piangi's right leg first, then his left asking "When will the blood begin to race? The sleeping bud burst into bloom?" Raising our arms again, I ask "When will the flames at last......" I wrap my arms around him one at a time staring with the left saying "consume..." As I wrap my right arm around Piangi, the left side of my face brushes against the right side of his. I feel something on his face, since I'm not sure what it is, I break the grasp of our hands and feel his face with my hand. Immediately recognizing that it's a mask, and not just any mask, I sing the final note of my part "us" and breaking free of the Phantom's grasp I try and run away, but the Phantom grabs my arm and pulls me back towards the center of the stage. We start the final part of the song, his hands gripping my wrists.
"Past the point of no return, the final threshold....." The Phantom's grip is so tight on my wrists that I can feel the ring digging into the side of my hand. "The bridge is crossed so STAND...." On 'stand' I break free of the restraint and trembling, look up at the Phantom. We are standing face to face as we sing "and watch it burn." He starts walking towards me and I start shaking like a leaf. "We've passed the point of no re....." I shout "TURN" and remove the hood revealing the Phantom's face. He looks at me in shock and in a hushed voice says "turn" before backing up and running in the opposite direction. Thinking 'here's my chance to get away' I run towards stage right but Firmin and Andre stop me and tell me to stay onstage. Are they nuts?
I back away from them and look towards the Phantom, who has his back to me. I hear him start singing, and I can sense a plea in his voice. "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime. Lead me, save me from my solitude." He turns to face me and continues his plea "Say you want me with you here beside you." I see him take the ring off his finger and he starts walking toward me slowly. "Anywhere you go, let me go too!" He drops to one knee in front of me and slowly putting the ring on my finger, he begs "Christine" He slowly stands up and pleads with me. "That's all I ask of.................."
