Future Saga, Part 2: Faces Without Names, Men Without Aims*
The ki signatures he felt in and around West City were sparse and almost
all miniscule. Trunks had taught himself to pick out his mother's
limited energy signature at a young age and could typically do so
without a second thought, but right now it was missing. She could either
be unconscious, or...worse.
The half-Saiyan floated in the air over Capsule Corporation for another
brief moment, his eyes shut as he scanned the city again. He would find
her, of that he was sure. He was used to living in a world that could
turn into a nightmare without warning; this was nothing new.
He still couldn't sense her. His eyes opened.
His energy carried him back to the ship and down the hall toward the
engine room before any human would have been able to see that he had
moved. The fastest way to find his mother was here, on his father's vessel.
Shortly after leaving the Arcosia system, Trunks had came across C47's
old chassis stuffed haphazardly in a bulkhead closet. He had briefly
considered reactivating the homicidal droid on the trip back, but
decided against it, opting for a little bit of peace. Unlike its
counterpart in the past, this version of the assassin droid didn't know
who he was. But now he had no choice.

power coupling bolt at the back of the robot's neck.
"Can you hear me, droid?"
For a moment, C47 remained still. Then he rose to his feet in a single
motion. A series of whirring and clicking noises filled the room as his
long-dormant systems cycled on one by one. Finally, his communications
relay and memory bank clicked into gear and his red eyes glowed
brighter. He turned to Trunks.
"Query: Are you my new master?"
"I'm in charge," snapped the Saiyan. He had no time for explanations.
"Your assistance is required immediately. Are your scanners fully
functional?"
"Scoffing Retort: On what authority, meatbag, do you make demands? I
have had many masters.
"Snide Query: What makes you so special, that you think you can just
bark orders at me?"
The engine room exploded in golden light as Trunks burst into his Super
Saiyan transformation, the force flinging C47 across the floor and
pinning him to the wall. "IS THIS ENOUGH FOR YOU, DROID?" thundered the
young man. "I grew up despising your kind, and I could turn you into
atoms in the blink of an eye. ARE YOUR SCANNERS WORKING?! I won't ask
