Leslie: Overlooked

I snaked my way through the semi-empty hallways of the school keeping my eyes out for "Room E-506" painted near any door.
E-502, E-503...Aha! E-506.
Just as I discover my new class the bell rings for first period. "Who's been prompt? I've been prompt!" I say to myself with much satisfaction. I open the door to see a dimly lit room, bare walls, and desks in neat rows of five. I automatically assume she is old.
No one was inside.
"Ooookaaaay..." Things just got awkward for the third time in one day. That's a new record, and I'm really awkward by nature.
"Hey." I jumped, bumping a desk into another. Turning around to find some boy who I guess I overlooked when I entered.
"Jesus! Couldn't you knock?" My heart rate calming now.
"I was already in here. You were the one who didn't knock." He said slyly while walking over to fix the desk I pushed. His stride was slow and chill. He wore glasses, his hair too curly to fit the skater boy look he was obviously trying to pull off. The almost chiseled features of his jawline.
His lips.
Ugh, I bet he's a pervert.
I noticed he was wearing the same red polo uniform I was wearing.
Duh, he's in the class. Great.
"So...Do you know where the teacher is? Mrs—"
"Dave," he said finishing my question. "No, I came early, but she wasn't here. By the looks of this place she's probably fifty, so expect slow movements."
I couldn't help, but chuckle. I guess he noticed because he gave a little smile himself.
Why would I do that? Now he's gonna think he can get with me.
The doorknob to the class turned and students started filling in, but they didn't seem to notice or care that we were in here alone.
We gave each other a final glance and took our seats. I didn't know anyone present in the class, until I saw my friend Thaddeus.
We go way back as well. He, Bre, and I were really close, but after Bre left we became closer.
I waved him over to the empty desk to the right of mine, and knowing that we both have horrible eyesight being closer to the board is probably smart.
The boy I was speaking to earlier sat in the back. I didn't quite catch his name, but I didn't care. He seemed like trouble.
*Fast forward*
We were both right. Mrs. Dave was an old woman. She looked as if she was in her late forties. "Alright, class, as you all may know I am your first period teacher. You may call me Mrs. Dave." She was addressing the class and going over some rules. Boring.
"Now, who would like to stand up and introduce themselves first?" Mrs. Dave looked around the class for a few seconds, but when she saw no hands go up she decided to choose at random.
"You there. Please, stand up and introduce yourself to the class including a few things about yourself." She was pointing to a blonde sitting two seats to my left. The girl stood up from her desk.
"Okay, hi everyone! My name is Bianca. I like Japanese anime, I'm really into 'kawaii' things, and I can be very emo at times." She spoke with a tone that told me she's emo most of the time.
The teacher thanked her, and she took her seat.
One after the other everyone was easing up to the tension and started volunteering. It came down to the boy from earlier. He stood and introduced himself.
"Uh, my name is Eren Tate. I'm a hardcore gamer, and...yeah." He grinned.
I just stared at him...a hardcore gamer? Figured.
Thaddeus was next.
"Hi, my name is Thaddeus Quint. I like...drawing." He looked around a bit awkwardly and took his seat. I gave him a reassuring smile and awaited my fate.
Now, it's my turn. I do not do good in front of a crowd at all. I couldn't let everyone know that because even I dislike it when others make a big deal out of everything.
I took a deep breath and stood.
"Uh, hi," I gave an awkward smile to the class. "I'm...Leslie Manson. Yeah, like the famous Charles Manson, and no, I'm not related to him....closely related that is." Another awkward smile when no one got the humor. All except for Eren. He gave a little chuckle. I looked at him in surprise and continued.
"One thing about myself.." I frantically searched for something to say just to get out of the spotlight. "I really like reading."
I gave it a few seconds before waving, yet another awkward smile and taking my seat.
Mrs. Dave began to speak, but she became background noise to my and Thadd's quick conversation.
"Do you know anyone else in here?" He asked me. I just shook my head and looked at him.
"Do you?" I shot him a quirked brow.
"None, except that Bianca girl. We went to the same school back in first and second grade. Her dad was in the army. I used to have a crush on her." He seemed a bit more secretive about that part.
Someone impatiently shushed us from behind, so I turned my head to mouth 'sorry'.
Jeez, salty on the first day.
The bell rang for break.
