Thaddeus, Bre, and I were sitting in our second period. By now we've all adjusted to our surroundings and are feeling a lot more confident. We were discussing the bell schedule when Mr. Joseph interrupted the class with a loud BANG on his metal bookshelf. The entire class spun in his direction to find him smiling and giggling jokingly. As if on cue, we all released our deep breaths, some grabbing their chests relieved and others slumping in their seats from a close heart attack.
"Welcome to U.S. History." Mr. Joseph said trying to intimidate us playfully. I have a good feeling about this class.
"Alright, students, you know the drill." He looked around patiently. "C'mon, we've all been taught how to honor our U.S. flag in elementary, right? So everyone stand up and we'll recite our Pledge of Allegiance." Mr. Joseph was motioning for us to stand, so we did placing our right hands above our beating hearts.
*Fast forward*

Our first day of U.S. History was a breeze. The three of us agreed that he was the funniest and most laid back teacher by far. "What should we do after school? You know, it's our first day, so we should meet up and establish future routines." Thadd was directing the question at Bre and I. The class has put me in a better mood, so I was all for the idea of meeting after school.
"You guys wanna come to my place? It'll just be us for a while." Bre responded.
Thadd and I both nodded in agreement and the three of us got lost in conversation. We had the rest of the class after introducing ourselves to converse and get comfortable with one another.
After half an hour of laughing at Mr. Joseph's corny jokes about how the Civil War was won the bell finally rang and we were headed for the cafeteria a second time.
Walking through the halls we could hear the immature jokes being made by other students, the laughter coming from everywhere else. I didn't want to make eye contact with anyone, so I kept my poker face in check. Some people took my expression as a mean look and stepped out of my way. I wanted to soften up, but I just wanted to get to the cafeteria already. My mind trailed off and I wasn't aware of where I was walking. A hollow thud came from the impact between my head and someone else's.
"Ouch! What the-" he turned around and his eyebrows eased up.
It was him.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't see you there." I looked away rubbing my forehead.
I saw Thaddeus and Bre laughing a few steps behind us. They laughed harder when they saw me looking at them.
Logan looked a little embarrassed, but you could tell he was trying to play it off.
"No worries. It was an accident." He responded.
"Yeah, well... I'm on my way to the cafeteria for lunch, so I'll just.." I was inching to his right when he lifted his hand to my arm and stopped me.
I realized that Bre and Thadd's laughter had stopped, and I turned around to find them watching us.
"Would it be cool if we joined you guys?" He asked, keeping his hand where it was.
My cheeks were turning as red as the growing bump on my forehead.
"Wait...we?" I asked him.
"Oh, yeah, Eren and Bianca are heading over. They're taking their time." He looked at me as if searching for a change in expression.
"Alright, I guess." I watched Thadd and Bre walk towards us.
"Hey, Logan." Bre greeted him.
"Hey, guys." He smiled.
I heard a familiar voice coming down the hall. Their conversation was faint, but I swear I heard that voice say can't wait to talk to you later. Sounded very suggestive if you ask me.
To no one's surprise, especially mine, it was Eren....and Bianca.
I don't know why, but I started to feel very annoyed with her.
When he spotted me his eyes widened and he froze suddenly surprised.
"H-hey, guys..." He looked at me. "Hey, Leslie."
Things were oddly quiet.
