"Hey, Thadd, have you seen Bre anywhere?" It totally slipped my mind to discuss a meeting area with her. We roamed the halls keeping not only our eyes, but our ears peeled for a tall, loud girl whose blunt opinions could leave Simon Cowell red in the face.
"She's more than likely with the majority in the cafeteria." He was saying loudly from a few steps ahead. Well, at least I won't have to worry about embarrassing myself in front of a cute boy seeming that there isn't one, yet.
The intercom above our heads blared and a woman's voice, maybe the principal, spoke.
"All grade levels report to the cafeteria for a 'First Day of School' assembly. Thank you!"
The intercom went off, and we decided to make haste.
*Fast forward*
We finally come across the double doors to the cafeteria after walking for what seemed like ten minutes, but mostly because of the miniature crowds spread throughout every single hallway. Thaddeus yanks the doors open and reveals a tidal wave of patriotic colors all competing for who could talk over everyone the loudest.
The fear of mingling with other grade levels made it easier for us to narrow down Bre's whereabouts. Thadd and I tried our hardest to walk nonchalantly towards the other sixth graders, but failed as we both bumped into each other and thirty percent of heads looked our way. Their stares faded as they took us for commoners and slipped back into their chit chats.
"There she is!" Thaddeus was pointing to Bre who was talking to a boy...
A cute boy...
She must have heard us because she looked over and waved. The boy shifted to face us probably wondering what had stopped their conversation.
Our eyes locked.
