4:29 PM

Ivan woke up from his long nap, feeling more refreshed than ever. He felt lonely due to his family being gone, and Jenny texting him saying she would be busy over the weekend. His family must of arrived in the town they traveled to, so he decided to call. He first tried his dad's cellphone but was surprised that it went straight to voicemail. His dad always has his phone on, and he knew there was signal. Have they not arrived there yet? Ivan decided to call his mother but was surprised when the same thing happened. Something's not right here. His mom's phone went straight to voicemail just like his dad's did. For last resort, he called Damien. Damien spends countless hours on his phone and on social media so he has to answer his phone. Ivan was more surprised that the same thing happened again. All of his family's cellphones went straight to voicemail. He had no other way to communicate with them. Before hanging up on Damien, he left a voicemail, asking where they were, and why they all had their phones turned off or cut signal. He hung up and thought about where they currently are. Maybe they got caught in that storm the news was talking about a few days ago? Oh no. The storm might have slowed them down, even then they wouldn't take this long.

Trying to distract himself, he called Aaron and Candice and asked if they wanted to come over and hang out. They both agreed, so they drove there and got there a few minutes after. Ivan sat down and waited as they walked in. He didn't look so well, as if he had a panic attack. Candice sits down by him while Aaron stands and waits.

"Something wrong, Ivan? It's rare seeing you like this." Candice asks, leaning over.

"Maybe Jenny already broke up with him, it's been 2 years since they go together, so that might be why. The longer the relationship lasted, the more it would hurt to break up." Aaron suggested, chewing on a piece of gum that he secretly stole from the close.

"It's not that." Ivan spoke up. "I may just be overreacting, but my family is out of town for my brother's football game, and I tried to call to see if they made it, but all of their cellphones went straight to voicemail. From what I remembered, the drive was about 3 hours, assuming traffic was decent. Only problem is they left the house a little after 9 this morning, and it's nearly 5 now. What if something happened to them?" Ivan said sounding scared. He was usually a fearless man, but he fears losing the ones that he loves the most.

"Well let's think of what could of happened." Candice said. "Maybe they got caught in that extreme storm passing by. It was on the news last night."

"That might of happened, but it was suppose to pass by fast. They wouldn't be stuck this long if it was rain. If it was snow, I would completely understand, but it's way to early for snowstorms to happen. Candice was always really smart, so she was a big help. She wanted to be a detective whens he was older.

"It would be doubtful that all of them have their cellphones turned off, so my suspicion would be that they all lost signal. The road connecting our city to the next town has very little to no signal, right Ivan?"

"I believe so. You can always tell when there is no signal because Damien starts screaming like a little girl whose ice cream just got stolen."

"Well the town must have some sort of signal, so something says they didn't reach the town safely." Ivan started to become scared that his family could be harmed. Wanting to change the subject, Ivan interrupted.

"Hey who wants to go out to eat? I'll pay for you both. We can discuss this later. I may just be overreacting, but I feel like you're correct, how they might be in danger. I just want to think positive. I hate the outcome of the ugly truth." Aaron was falling asleep on the side of the couch, so he heard nothing that Ivan said. Candice agreed and liked the idea.
