Slaughter
Ivan's eyes opened as wide as they could. He heard the voice of his father, despite not seeing him clearly since the inside of the building was pretty dark.
"Dad!" His father walked closer until Ivan saw how he looked. As excited as Ivan was, his happy mood quickly turned off as he realized he might of been looking at a killer. "Dad, please be honest and serious, did you kill mom?" There was a moment of silence between everyone there, and it only got worse until Ivan's father started talking.
"Why would I ever do that? I loved your mother more than anyone in my life. Knowing she is dead breaks my heart."
"That doesn't answer the question." Ivan spoke in a tough voice. He continued looking up at his father since he was much taller than him. His 6'5 height was a larger difference for Ivan's 6'0 height. "The police are looking for you. They have you as a suspect for mom's murder, and they need to see you as soon as possible."
"You mean you came all the way out here just to turn me in? They have no proof that I did it." He looked down at the debris filled floor.
"I believe they have enough proof that you were the murderer." Jenny spoke up with an angry voice. "I have spent weeks thinking about all of this, and it could be nobody other than you. You purposely ran away from your family, knowing that they would never forgive you after finding out what you have done. Ivan and I have worked with the police trying to get as much information we could about you, but it still wasn't enough, and I'm tired of working everything out like this."
"Fine. Do you want me to be honest about myself? I didn't kill her and that is the truth. I messaged you, Jenny, so that we can meet and so I can admit I did nothing. I would assume that both of you thought that I was dead, so I messaged her to tell you and Damien to meet me here." He coughed a bit from all of his fast talking. "And where is your brother Damien? I thought I told you to bring him here." Jenny looked down a bit and Ivan began to form tears in his eyes. She turned to face Ivan and nodded, symbolizing that she wanted him to tell his father what had happened.
"Damien is no longer with us. 2 nights ago, we were robbed between 4 AM and 6 AM. I know this because I was awake at 4 AM to hear the van getting broken into. As soon as I stepped outside, I saw shattered glass all over the floor. I went back to sleep and saw at 6 AM that the whole downstairs was trashed."
"Just get to the point!" Screamed Jenny in frustration. Ivan looked at her kind of funny but listened.
"Anyways, the person who broke in came last night and murdered Damien. We tried all that we could to save him, but the murderer ran away. The killer was named Andrew Hernandez. He's on the suspect list for killing mother, and so was Damien." Ivan secretly lied to his father saying that Andrew got away. He didn't want to see his father's reaction of Ivan telling him that he murdered someone.
"That's awful! I can't believe someone would do that for no reason. I wish I got to see the look on my boy's face one last time." He looked upset and so did Ivan. Jenny got back up and started yelling at Ivan's father once again.
"Why would you care about him? You obviously don't care if you killed his mother because he would hate to see you again. All he wanted to do was avenge his mother, and you committed the murder, so you might as well kill Damien while he's still alive." He started getting angrier and he shouted back. Ivan felt that an argument between both of them would start and not end for a long time.
"I already told you I didn't kill her! If it makes you feel better, I tried to find who did it from watching every local story on the news." Half of Ivan believed that he was the murderer, but the other half believed that he was completely innocent from it.
