The wind is howling. The trees are creaking and swaying in the wind. I'm alone. I'm in the woods, surrounded by trees, the dense forest. No escape. I will myself to move. My legs are as stiff as wood. I feel useless. I have a backpack, but I don't know how I got it. I hold onto the trees for support. I see an opening up ahead. I'm almost there. I feel myself hit the ground. Something has knocked me down. I don't know what, but whatever it is, it was powerful. I get up, covered in pine needles and dirt. I don't care. I just care about getting home.

I fall onto the street. The cars are rushing by me in a blur. I realize now that I can't remember anything before I woke up in the woods. I wander down the sidewalk, trying not to bump into anyone. No one even notices me. I am a leaf on the ground. I go unnoticed. Stepped on by thousands of living things. I come to the Amway Hotel. The only thing I remember from before I woke up in the woods, was the Amway. I glide through the spinning door, remembering loving doing this as a little girl. I see a sign. It reads " Welcome to the Grand Rapids Amway Hotel. Enjoy your stay."

I walk by it, and up to the front desk. "May I get a room please?" I asked as sweetly as I could. It wouldn't cut it. I know what's coming.

"Young lady. Where are your parents?" questioned the man at the desk.

What do I tell him? Do I tell him I don't know?

"I think they're up in our room, but they said I could get my own room." I lie.

"All right. One room coming up." the man said.

A few minutes later, I was in my room, unpacking the backpack I had in the woods.

There was money, about three hundred and fifty dollars, a toothbrush, a comb, a phone, credit card, a book, and a ticket to New York City!

I can't explain myself. I can't remember if I put this stuff in here.

A knock on the door wakes me from my thoughts.

I stand on my tippy toes to see through the peephole. Even though it's rusted over, I can still make out a figure.

There's a girl, about my age. She has blonde hair pulled up in a ponytail. She's wearing jeans and a t-shirt. She begins to look impatient.

I open the door and she barges in.

"Lily, you don't know me, but I know you. We have to go now!" she exclaims hurriedly.

"Well I don't know what to say except, GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" I scream so loudly, she takes a step backwards.

"Lily. I know you don't remember me, but you have to trust me. I was your best friend, and I still am. Now we have to catch that plane to New York City." she says.

I'm shocked. I faintly remember this girl. Her name is Anna , and she was my best friend. "But I just got here, and I'm not leaving." I exclaim.

"Fine. We'll just have to catch another flight to New York next week. Gosh, you are a tough one."

"Thanks. Where are you going to stay?" I asked her.

"Well you know, I was thinking about staying here. I'm going to go get a room. I'll see you tomorrow." she responds.

She grabs her bag, opens the door, and walks out, leaving me confused and excited.
