Chapter 2

The next day, I wake to the sound of someone banging on my door.

To my surprise, it was Anna. Of course.

"What do you think you're doing! It's seven am." I exclaimed, still tired.

"We have work to do." and with that she skipped into my room, and threw herself on the other bed.

Anna began pulling out devices, maps, and all sorts of junk. I couldn't even focus.

"Well I'm going to get ready, you just stay there and play with your toys." I replied sarcastically.

I take a shower, blow dry my hair, braid it, and finish up.

I open the door, to find Anna looking out the window with a stern look on her face.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

" I was just thinking. Lily, we need a plan. We can't just show up in New York without a plan." she replies

"Well then what do you suppose we do?" I ask.

"I don't know but I always need food in my stomach to think. I heard there was a place just outside of the hotel. Let's go there." she replies.

"Ok, well I'll be right there. Let me grab my money." I respond.

Anna shut the big door behind her, and I grab my backpack and fling it over my shoulder. I look back to see if I forgot anything, and noticed Anna's stuff laying on the bed.

I pick up a map to examine it. As I set the map down, I notice a old worn out picture. As I look closer, I'm shocked. This girl isn't lying. We did actually know each other before. The picture was of Anna and I swimming in what was probably a lake, due to the murky water. We were so happy, best friends I would guess. I pocket the picture and head out the door.

Anna is waiting for me at an outside table at a hot dog stand. I walk over and set my stuff down. Anna had ordered me a salad with caesar dressing. My favorite. I should have known. She was my best friend.

I sat down and look straight into her eyes and ask, "Ok so maybe you weren't lying. But I'm still confused."

"What are you confused about?" asked Anna.

"Well what is this plan of yours?" I replie

"I was thinking, when we get there and it's daytime, we go to Times Square and look around. If it's night time, we go to a hotel and get a room. I think I have enough money for both of us." she explains.

"But why do we have to go to New York? Is there someone there, or something we need to do?" I ask still confused.

"Well I shouldn't tell you this, but since we're in the fairytale agency, we have to be in New York." she explains.

I laugh. I can't help it! A fairytale agency! Really, Anna? Everyone knows fairytales are just stories.

"Oh Anna. That's funny. But seriously, why?" I ask

"For real Lily. I'm not kidding. It's real and we are part of it." she explains impatiently.

I didn't believe her for one minute, but I had nothing better to do. So I went along with it.

We finished our lunch and headed downtown to look at the shops. We stop by shops and look in through the windows and then move on to the next window. We do this for two hours. We don't talk, just look. The trees are beautiful. Changing colors like they do every fall. We stop at a gas station to get some snack food. I open the door and a bell jingles from above us. The floor is old and rusty and it smells of gasoline. Anna goes for the candy, I go for the salty snacks. I end up getting five big pringle jars, two bags of Chex Mix, six lemonades, four Snicker bars, and eight Twix Bars. Anna gets ten snicker bars, five Twix bars, eight pringle jars, nine lemonades, two packs of gobstoppers, and a bunch of other junk. We head back to the Amway, go our separate ways. Me to my room, and Anna to the gaming room.

As I close the door, I dump the contents of my bag onto the extra bed and begin get ready for bed. I take a shower, eat some pringles, read my book, set my alarm for nine a.m, and finally fall asleep to the city sounds.
