I sat re-reading the same question over and over again. Well not really the question but two of the answers. They were both very similar with one difference on answer B, the lifeguard(aka hopefully me) actually touches the unconscious guest who is on land. I didn't believe that was true so I went with the other option.

Flipping through the packet one last time, I checked to make sure that everything was completed and I hadn't missed any questions. Satisfied with my answers, I stood up from where I had been perched between the two steps of the bleachers.

We were told to take the test there and to make sure we distanced ourselves. We had to complete the CPR test as well, but I had passed it before sitting down to take the lifeguard test. Walking to where the supervisors were seated, I started to get a bit nervous. What if all my answers were wrong and I failed miserably. I didn't want to walk out of here a complete failure.

"Stop it!" I told myself quietly.

I was fine and if I failed then I failed.

I was so busy worrying, that I hadn't realized my feet had taken me to the table that Jay sat at. He had his hand held out, waiting for me to pass over my paper.

"Oh...um, sorry!" I said quickly, looking down to hid my blushing face.

I shoved my test into his waiting hand. He chuckled and I glanced at his face, only to see him smiling at me.

"Are you nervous, Jenna?" he asked, checking my first set of answers to his copy of the answer sheet.

I gave him a small grin even though he wasn't looking.

"A bit. I'm just scared that I failed and I don't want to be embarrassed." I replied quietly.

He glanced up. "I have a feeling that you have nothing to worry about." he said with a reassuring smile, before focusing back on my test.

Jay was one of my favorite supervisors, besides Amanda. He was hilarious and always tried to make the training weekend a bit more fun. He was kind of like one of those dads who was always trying to make boring things like chores into a game. Which is why I guess all of the returning guards called him Dad.

My other favorite supervisor Amanda, was seated a few feet away looking over Matthew's test. Matthew was one of the few friends I had made over the weekend. He had light brown hair, dark brown eyes and was super funny, but mostly made inappropriate jokes which didn't surprise me but still made me laugh.

Most of us had started to call him Matt because there was a supervisor named Matthew and we didn't want to get them confused.

Matt was standing in front of Amanda's table, looking the opposite direction. I cleared my throat causing Matt to look over at me. He smiled and gave me a small wave.

After waving back I looked back over at Jay just as he finished checking my test. After shifting some papers he had grabbed from a table behind him, Jay looked back at me.

"You got a 81 out of 82 and you obviously know you passed the CPR test." I started to grin as he finished, "So there's only one other thing to say. Congratulations Jenna and welcome to the Soak City Lifeguards."
