Luke's POV

Tonight will be the last night I spend with Ashton.
With anyone.
Anything.

I asked Ashton to drive us to the beach to spend the day there.
He didn't expect a thing.
He just thinks it's a day out.

We set up the picnic rug and sat down next to each other.
"Sorry I never took you on a proper date" I said.
"It's fine Lukey. Any time spent with you is all I need"
He kissed me. I kissed back.
God how I'll miss that.

After a few hours, we ended up playing 21 questions. Childish, I know.
"Umm if you could spend your last day on earth with anyone, who would it be?"
Ashton's asked, smiling at me.
"Definitely you" I didn't even have to think twice about that answer.
"I can't wait to grow old together Lukey, I can see us like having a cute little house, adopting kids, I've always wanted twins, a girl and a boy, I just can't wait. We'll get through this hard stage in life and we can grow old together. Do you ever think about that?"
I didn't answer.
Instead, I kissed Ashton passionately, hopefully to distract him from his question.
"C'mon, let's take this back to the car"
And we definitely did.
Ashton was a moaning mess. And even though it was really hot and sweaty on the backseat of the car. Underneath me was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen.
Once we were "done", and had boxers back on, I rolled over so Ashton was half laying on me, half almost-falling off the seat.
He just giggled at himself.
God, I'm going to miss that so much. His gorgeous laugh that could send shivers down anyone's spine, his smile that could brighten anyone's day.

It was now ten at night and we'd been out all day.
I was feeling nervous and guilty and all kinds of emotions.
I was leaving him in the worst way possible.

"'m tired Lukey"
"Go to sleep then babe"
"Come cuddle"
"You get comfy. Just let me brush my teeth"

Hopefully Ashton will fall asleep between now and then.
And I was right.
After five minutes he was crashed.
This is it.
I already had the note written, so I left it on Ashton's bedside table, along with my wallet. The only thing I had was my phone and my keys. I'd be needing the last thing.

I didn't realise I left the lamp in next to the note and when I opened the door to leave, Ashton woke up.
"Don't do it Luke"
"Just trust me" I said and then walked out.
My heart was set on this. More than anything, more than Ashton.

Ashton could never catch me, I'm in a car and already leaving, he's not even out the door yet. Unless, he never came after me.
Is that what I wanted? Was this just a cry out for help?
No. I'm doing this to be happy, for everyone else to be happy.

When I got to the bridge, the one where me and Calum first became friends actually.
I got out of my car and walked off the walking path and into the darkness.

Ashton's POV

I had a photo of us in a frame next to my bed. I wrote on it, in my small, messy handwriting; "love me like you did, I'll give you anything"

I'm not very religious, but I prayed every night that he'd come back. That they'd both come back.

It's been two weeks since Luke left. The sad thing is that no one has mentioned anything about it. Not my mum, well that's about it, Luke's "dad" doesn't even know. He doesn't deserve to. And his mum, she probably wouldn't remember she had a son.

I was in English class when the teacher called me to the front.
"Ashton, please take your things and head to the office. There's someone here to pick you up"
I just nodded and did as told. No questions. Nothing.
I couldn't be bothered.
