Luke's POV

Right now I was sitting in the car with Ashton's mum because I'd been at Ashton's place all day because of the news and he just needed me.

I was worried that he was going to cut himself, I assumed he already did after finding out Jess had cancer but now I'm really worried, he might do something worse.

When we arrived at my house my face paled and I suddenly felt very nervous or sick, maybe both.

"Thank you Ms Irwin, remind Ash he can call me if he needs"
"Will do and call me Anne. Oh and Luke, I was meant to ask you something. Are you and Ashton dating, I know he's gay so it's fine"
"No we aren't dating, but I do like him. I just don't know when the right time is"
I'm not sure why I was telling her this.
"Well I know he's sad right now, really sad but I think it would help him become happier"
"Thank you, I'll see you soon"

When I was sure that Ms Ir-Anne was gone I walked up to my front door and unlocked it.

"Luke! Where the f*ck have you been get in here now!"
"Where's mum? I-I was at my friends house because his best friend died"
"You're mother is out and will be back later. A boy hey? And when were you planning on telling me you're a faggot" he spat the word out like it was the most disgusting thing.
"He's just my friend am I allowed it have guy friends?"
"Don't give me cheek you little asshole"
"Just piss off" I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"I said piss off!"
"You know what you get now don't you Luke? Swearing at me, you disrespectful little brat!"

He walked over and slapped me right across the cheek, I could smell the alcohol on his breath, and when I went to walk off he grabbed the collar of my shirt and slammed me into the door. I'm not going to tell you what else he did, that's for another time.

I woke up in the morning with a throbbing cheek and my back was killing me. I needed to call Ashton.

I didn't think he was going to answer but picked up on the last ring.

"Hey Ash, this is a dumb question but are you going to school, otherwise I'll come pick up our assignment and take it in"
"U-um I think I will go I guess I'll just be sad at home alone"
"Ok I'll be there in 10"
"See you soon"

I got dressed seeing I showered last night, I put on my usual black skinny jeans, black vans, a Ramones t-shirt, and a grey beanie. My outfit didn't match very well but I don't give a shit.

Once I brushed my teeth and finished getting ready I grabbed my school bag and walked downstairs. I think I mentioned before my parents have a lot of money and my dad is always drunk and mum's always out.
When I got downstairs my dad, if I can even call him that, was on the lounge, asleep, and mum was in the kitchen.

"Bye Luke"
"Mmm"
"What's up with you lately? You're never home"
I scoffed.
"I'm never home? You're always out with your snobby friends dad's always drunk. Maybe I'm out at friends places because their parents are nice enough to feed me!"
"How dare you speak about my friends and I like that! Your father isn't always drunk. He drinks a little beer some nights, most men do"
"You're clueless mum"
"Excuse me?"
"He is always drunk, whenever you go out he drinks enough beer for 4 guys to get drunk! And maybe I wouldn't talk to you like that if you actually cared about me! I'm not staying home tonight I'll see you in a few days you bitch!"
"Luke! You know what I couldn't care less if you never came back. I couldn't care less if you died!"
"F*ck you" with that I walked out.

I decided not to drive to school today. I hardly ever do anymore, there's to many, um, memories in that car.

After walking for what seemed like forever I arrived at Ashton's, his mum was just leaving as I got there.

"Hi Luke how are you this morning" she said in a very chirpy voice, not sure how someone could be that happy at 8:30 am but anyways.
"I'm ok" I lied "is Ashton alright this morning?"
"I think you should just see him Luke, he hasn't come downstairs since last night, I don't mind if you stay home today, I'll write you a note or something tomorrow"
"Thank you Anne have a good day"
"You too"

When Ashton mum drove off with Lauren and Harry, to take them to school I guess, I went inside.

"Ashton where are you?"
No response.
"Ashton Fletcher Irwin get your ass down here or we'll be late"
Still nothing, maybe he was asleep?

When he still didn't reply I went upstairs, let me tell you, I'm glad I got there when I did.

"Oh my god Ashton! Put that away, you know what give that to me"
"Please don't yell at me" he said in a voice just above a whisper.
"Hey, I-I'm sorry you just scared me Ash"

He handed over the rope.

"I'm sorry Lukey I really I don't even know anymore please just stay with me"
"It's ok sorry I yelled. And of course I'll stay with you"
"Promise?"
"Promise. It'll be ok Ash, we'll get through this"
"Thank you Lukey I don't know what I'd do without you"
"You'd be alright. Can you do something for me though? Come with me to school so we can drop off our assignment? I'd hate to fail music and I know you would too"
"Ok but can we go now and try get there before class"
"We can try but you need to get dressed"
"Ok"

I sat on Ashton's bed while he went downstairs to the bathroom, I can't believe I just witnessed the most important person in my life try to kill themselves.

Oh my god, I like Ashton so much than I thought I did

I can't tell him now

I was broken from my thoughts when Ashton came back up in black skinny jeans and a white hoodie. I smiled sadly. He shouldn't have to wear a hoodie in summer.

While we were walking to school I suddenly felt really nervous.
I'm not sure what came over me but I grabbed Ashton's hand in mine. He tensed at first but soon relaxed and wait was that a blush on his cheeks?
He couldn't like me still?

"Hey Luke, why are you walking all funny?"
Shit
"Uh u-um I fell asleep sitting up last night a-and I hurt my back I g-guess"
"Mmm ok" I knew he didn't believe me.
"You know when we get back to your place we are going to talk about what happened earlier"
He groaned.
"Ashton it's important I can't have you doing it again"
"Why not?"
"Because I care about you alot" I left it at that and we released hands and made our way into school.

It was still 10 minutes until class started so hopefully Mrs Jay was in the music room.
Thankfully she was.

"Excuse me Mrs Jay. Ashton and I have our assignment thing"
"Oh thank you boys. Are you staying at school today?"
"U-um no we most likely won't be back until next week"
"I'm really sorry for your loss. Stay strong Ashton. You'll get through this"

The way she said that to Ashton, I knew she must've seen something else was wrong with Ashton, even before everything with Jess.

On our way back to Ashton's place I decide to break the silence.

"Ashton"
"Yeah"
"I-I need to tell you something"
Once I knew that I was definitely going to tell him I burst into tears.

A/N~ sorry short chapter and it was kind of boring and a bit if a filler but it is important some of the things are important...
