Lee crawled forward, enough that the door closed, and put his right hand up on the grill and pulled himself up. He'd plucked the knife from his chest and it clanked to the floor. Angie was gushing blood, he found a towel for her and she wrapped it around her arm. It was instantly stained with blood. He clutched his chest with his hand, blood drenched his hand.

Lee went straight ahead, never looking around the kitchen, not knowing what was in there, he went straight ahead and opened the door that took them behind the bar. He slid over the bar, Angie did the same, he pushed open the door and walked to the car. He sat down in the car's driver seat, Angie in the passenger. He said, "Keys."

"Gone," Angie said, tears streaming down her face.

"Wha?"

"I-I-I don't. . .k-n-now where they went," she sobbed.

"Pockets?"

Angie tried her pockets, pulled her keys out of the right pocket. Lee began to cry. She gave him the keys and he put it against the ignition switch and missed. They slipped and they fell to the car's floor. He bent over and plucked them from the ground. When he looked up, Dandy was at the door to Road House.

Lee turned the key.

Nothing.

Dandy started for the car.

Lee turned the key.

Nothing.

Dandy put his hands on the hood.

Lee turned the key, the car started.

Dandy's hand crashed through the driver's window just as Lee put the gear in reverse. Dandy gripped Lee's shirt and pulled it off his back and backed up a couple steps. Dandy grabbed Lee again, his arm was covered in blood where the machete went in. Lee turned off the car and held the keys in his right hand. Dandy yanked Lee out of the car and onto the small parking lot ground in front of Road House.

Dandy was laying on the ground, struggling to get up. Lee got on his knees, a key tucked between his middle and ring fingers, pointing outward. Lee made a fist minus one finger. Dandy got up and charged at Lee, who was on his knees and shot his fist out into the big man's stomach. The key went in. Lee turned his fist, Dandy screamed out with pain and slapped Lee, as if Dandy didn't know what else to do. It was the move of someone who had never been hit back before.

Lee went to the ground, struggled on his back, which wasn't covered by a shirt, so he felt the asphalt dig into his back.

Dandy got down and grabbed at Lee and punched him in the face, Lee struggled against Dandy, who jammed a thumb into Lee's chest cavity, Lee cried out and released a bit of tension.

Dandy finally got his awkward hands around Lee's throat. Lee threw a right hook behind Dandy's ear.

Dandy stood, staring with lifeless eyes at Lee.

There was a ripping noise as Lee brought his fist and the key out and he did another hook behind Dandy's ear.

Dandy didn't even know he had been killed.

Dandy hit the ground by the car's tire. Lee sat on the thing's stomach and slammed his right fist into the man-child's face three times, and then he let the keys fall to the asphalt and he sat on his butt. Then he looked at his chest, blood running down to his shorts. The cavity was pouring blood. He looked up into the car and saw Angie slouched over. He couldn't tell if she was breathing or not. Lee got up too fast, so he steadied himself on the car. He went to move around the front of the car to Angie, but then he suddenly fell, unconscious.
