Chapter 3
Nash shuffled Jacqueline forward as he tried to walk in the apartment. "This is Jacqueline. She's a friend."
"It's Jackie."
The boy with the dark hair smiled at them and waved them onward as if they needed permission. Nash sat down and Jackie plopped onto the tweed couch next to him. It amazed Jacqueline that Nash could remain selfless enough to allow these people in his home when they treated him with no regard for what he'd done for them.
"So Jackie, what's your issue?"
Jacqueline looked at the boy in astonishment. Her issue? Her issue is her parents, but he had no need for that information. She nudged Nash and he looked happy for a second before he realized she wanted him to fabricate an issue for her.
"Oh, Jackie here is a victim of bullying." Bullying, really? Good job Nash.
Jackie smiled at the pretty boy who smirked apathetically. He removed himself from his chair to crouch in front of her.
"Don't worry sweetheart. We won't judge you. What's really your issue?"
She looked around the dark room with the bright lights and decor. Several people were watching them, intrigued by the girl they'd never seen before. "My family. They're insane."
He laughed and took both her hands in his. "Aren't we all?"
Nash shook his head and mouthed "he's an addict." "Hey, shut up man. You don't know what she's been through." The boy glared at Nash and spit. "And you do?"
Nash's eyes hardened as he stood up. Jacqueline tugged on his arm as the other kids looked at them now. She glanced around quickly and saw dazzling green eyes staring at her. Wow. Green Eyes smiled at Jackie and motioned towards the boys who were about to fight. She shook her head not knowing what he wanted. He stood up and made his way toward them, Jackie let go of Nash's arm as Green Eyes moved between them.
"Why don't you shut up, Marvin. Nash I think it'd be best if you went and cooled down."
Nash nodded and moved away casting Jacqueline a glance. "She's fine Nash. I'll take care of her."
