Chapter 5

Dean paused in the hallway. Dead? How, is this why Jacqueline was so reserved? Jacqueline had started to make her way down the hallway again when Dean's large hand landed and planted itself firmly on her shoulder. "I'm sorry."

"It's not like you killed her," she would not cry. She had sworn to stop crying for her sister.

She had loved Adeline, but if anything was still left of her feelings for her dear sister, it had to be envy. Adeline was done, her freedom cost her her life but it was over, she got away. Jacqueline was stuck in Hell forever more.

Dean observed as Jackie moved down the hallway, her dark brown hair cascaded around her and down to the small of her back, he knew if she turned around he'd be pierced by her steely grey eyes, and he wondered if she had always been this way or if maybe she'd been born into a family that deserved her she'd be smiling.

"C'mon Batman.'

Batman grinned as he followed her up the stairs, as he panted from the flights of stairs they'd had to climb she wanted to laugh. They stopped at her scarlet painted door, Dean once again smiled. All over the door were drawings, assumable to have been drawn by Axel. Jacqueline fingered the art as she opened the door.

They looked at the small boy cuddled up in the blankets and Jacqueline moved towards him. She lifted him to her like a mother would. "Axel. Axel wake up."

The boy who looked too much like his sister ruined the illusion when he opened his bright hazel eyes. "Hey, Axel, we're leaving. C'mon go to the guest room. I'll meet you there." He nodded but stopped as soon as she'd put him on the floor.

"Who're you?"

"He's Batman."

Dean swallowed as he looked down at the small boy trying to be bigger. Jackie smiled and mussed up hs hair. Dean had no idea how Axel would react to him if the child didn't even like Nash. "What're your intentions with my sister? Are you going to hurt her?" Jackie rolled her eyes and pushed him towards the door. "Go, be quiet Axel! As quiet as you can."

The small boy with the bright eyes nodded and quickly became the soldier he loved pretending to be in front of his sister. Jacqueline saluted him and looked at Dean expectantly. Dean quickly saluted the small boy so he could be on his way. As soon as he was out of the door Jacqueline started throwing things in her bag. She came across photos of a man, a man she didn't have the time to miss. She threw the picture into the bag to be retrieved later.

"Help me.'

Dean followed her lead and started assisting in the throwing of the clothes. She shoved draws close and threw what books and notes she did have into the fire place and tossed the burning match into the chasm. Dean looked bewildered at her actions but did not question her or her motives. She grasped his hand and they ran down the stairs and back into Adeline's room. She grabbed few things and threw them out the window where Nash and apparently Axel were waiting.

They heard doors opening and closing upstairs and Jacqueline moved with more determination. "Go! Get in the car. Dean, go!' He jumped out the window and waited for her as Nash and Axel moved into the car. Jackie heard the door next to this room open as she pushed herself out the window. She knew it was Rance, she only prayed he didn't come after her and he was unaware of the fact she had taken Axel.

Dean wrapped his arm around her small body as they ran to the car, "Go! Drive!"

Nash pounded the pedal as Dean sat with Jacqueline as she tried to hide her fear from her brother.
