Fleur's POV
River smiles at me mockingly from outside of the detention classroom. His brown eyes glows in delight as he stares at me with curiosity. It's day 3 of being in detention, and this is all completely torturing me to the core.
"Alright, you can all leave now." The teacher waved us off.
Everyone walks out of the classroom and starts muttering in cusses about how late it is already. All I did was sigh in relief, finally 2 more days to go.
I had no regrets about what I did by the way.
As I was walking out of the classroom, I glance up and see that River is still there outside the door. He keeps on staring at me intently with interest.
Gosh, he looks so cool.
Our school's uniform definitely looks great on him. Heck, he'd look good in anything.
"H-Hey," I managed to say, feeling the blood rushing to my cheeks. I'm completely hopeless.. he probably knows I'm head over heels for him already. Okay, be cool, be cool. "What are you doing here so late?"
"Just finished tutoring some kids who suck at maths," he replied with a heavenly smile. "Well, what about you? I didn't know little-miss-top-of-her-maths-class is a bad ass."
I nervously tuck my hair behind my ear and ask him how he knows about that.
"Oh, they pinned up exam results on the notice board today. 97%, room for improvement, Miss Morisette," he teased. "So, what did you do to get detention?"
I look around the hallway, avoiding his eyes. If we make eye-contact I think I'd faint right there. "Okay, so maybe I might have..." He stares at me intensely. "might have... told Mr. Dunnigan to finger his ass with my hand sketch.."
River starts laughing adorably and I try to savour the moment as much as I can.
"Fleur, what the hell!" I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest and attack me for having these feelings. God, why is he everything I look for in a potential boyfriend? "What." His facial expression changed completely with his eyebrows raised. Uh oh.
"...what."
"What did you just say." River demanded, as he crosses his arms together. Oh my God I realised I said that out loud. Mayday mayday, abort, say something, do something, anything!
I hopelessly stare at him and start laughing awkwardly ."Hah, you know, I gotta go, bye." I run to my locker as quickly as my uniform would allow me, and grab my bag.
Hopefully, River left already. I walk outside, only to be greeted by the rain. "Oh look, the weather matches my future with River." I muttered to myself. The sound of distant thunder fills my ears and I panic. This is bad, I left my umbrella in my locker, and I can't risk seeing River again. But I also can't walk home in the rain.
Aster and Olive are at piano practice, and Laurel is still on her L plates. I cursed the universe quietly for giving me no choice. I took shelter under a tree, which didn't do much, and pulled out my phone.
I hope I won't regret this.

Fern's POV
"What was that? The thunder cut you off." My father said calmly. Why isn't he like that when he's talking to me?
"4.2%, our profit margin has gone down by 4.2%" The employee who was with us nervously replied.
Oooh, wrong move, new employee, wrong move.
My father slams his palm on the table as he stands up suddenly, making Mr. New Employee jump in fear. "How is that possible!" He yelled out at Mr. Employee. I could see him turning red in anger. You always start with the good news first, it's common sense.
I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost. Mr. New Employee is about to become Mr. Jobless. "W-Well, uhh--" He was cut off by the sound of a ringtone. Wait, my ringtone. Woops.
The caller ID was Fleur. "How many times do I have to tell you to TURN YOUR PHONE OFF DURING MEETINGS?" My father barked out loudly at me as he made stupid random hand gestures in anger. I put my forefinger up at him, ushering him to wait as I tapped the green button.
See, he never talks to me calmly.
"Hello?" My father was getting more infuriated by the second, and I quickly ran out the room.
"I'll be there in 2 minutes, tops."
~10 minutes later~
I smiled to myself, she looked like a drenched cat. "I'll be there in 2 minutes." She mimicked as she entered my car. "I could've walked home by now, you idiot."
"I got lost! Roberto always drives me, I don't know my way around." I noticed her shivering from the corner of my eye and I turned the heater up.
"Spoiled, much?" She mumbled out. Thunder struck once again and Fleur flinched. I put the music on as an attempt to drown out the noise.
"Well, if I had a choice, I wouldn't want any of--"
"OH MY GOD!" I slammed on the brakes, thinking I almost hit a dog or something. Good thing there were no cars behind me. I turned over and looked at Fleur in shock.
"You listen to Childish Gambino too?!" Her eyes sparkled in amazement.
I can't believe this girl.
I started driving again and replied "Are you serious, you almost gave me a heart attack." She looked out the window embarrassed and I sighed. "Yes. I listen to him, he's a prodigy."
Fleur looked at me excitedly. "Right?!" She blurted out. I stopped at the red light and stared at her blankly. "W-What?" She stared back at me, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"So, uhh.." I scratched the back of my head, looked away from her and nervously tapped my hand on the steering wheel.
She tilted her head, "What is it?" she asked.
"Where do you live?" I asked her hesitantly.
Fleur looks at me with disbelief and smacks her forehead. Ah, I'm guessing she forgot about it too then. She puts both of her legs on my car seat and begins to sulk. I'll have to tell Roberto to make someone clean the car later.
Ugh, I hate dirt.
"Hey, you can't go home with those clothes on." I pointedly said.
"I don't care. No one will be home anyway." Fleur's muffled voice croaks out.
At that moment, I sympathized with her. I also didn't really have anyone at home waiting for me.. except for the hundreds of maids and butlers but, who cares about those? It's not like they'll care if I'm gone. I think they would be more happier to get rid of me.
In that instant, I thought of a very good idea.
"Fleur, I think you'll be home late again today." I said with determination.
"Wait, what-" Before she could continue, the green light lit up and I step on the gas pedal hard, making the car swerve right across the curb. As she screams loudly in fear, I drive with ease. I should totally be a race car driver.
