Fleur's POV
"Do you really have to wear that?" I asked Fern.
Fern looks at me with a confused look, "What's wrong with it?"
I sigh, massage the bridge of my nose and look at him sternly, "You really had to change into that get up?" I motioned towards the dress that he's wearing.
Fern grins at me and does a tiny twirl. The way he twirled for me was so cute, it makes him seem like one of those princesses. I think Disney should totally have a crossdressing prince soon.
After Fern twirled around, he grabs my hand and holds it tightly. We're currently roaming around the city with no destination in mind- well, I didn't have a destination but Fern did.
He insisted on buying me new clothes just because of the incident that happened when we first met; I threatened to ditch him but of course, the princess always wins- I only let him win since he bribed me that he would get me gudetama merchandises.
So, here we are. Walking hand in hand.
"I can't just run around the city plaza without hiding who I really am, Fleur." He quietly murmured while walking, still holding my hand.
He glances my way, and I only stare back.
This moment. This moment feels like we were against the world and winning, I don't ever want to leave this moment and that scares me. A lonely young man and a misunderstood girl. What a pair, right?
"Thank you for giving me freedom." He smiled at me sincerely, it was one of those boyish smiles that girls would head over heels in love for.
My heart should've start beating fast like those shoujo mangas, k-dramas, and any other shit that has cliche romance tropes. I should've smiled back shyly and said, "you're welcome, Fern."
But I didn't.
I start giggling maniacally and shove him away, "Geez, Fern. I'm not some kind of warden." The face he made when I shoved him was priceless.
Way to go, Fleur. You ruined the moment!
His expression was like a baby bird's feathers were ruffled violently and now they're out to kill. Yet.. He somewhat looks hurt also? Or was that just my imagination?
He glares at me playfully but then his expression turns sour, "I'm serious, Fleur. I think I.." Flern looks away from me and down unto the floor like it was the most interesting masterpiece to focus on. I kept on staring at him, curious what he's about to say to me.
Is he going to finally confess that he's my long lost twin? Is he going to tell me he's finally going to kill me? His doppelganger?!?
Honestly, I'm this paranoid.
Fern is still holding my hand, he squeezes it tightly again but before he could continue-
"Fleur..?" A rich deep toned voice coming from behind me timidly asked.
Fern's eyes widens in alarm, I'm even more curious now. I look behind me and I swear, I think I did the same expression Fern is currently wearing.
"River?!" I exclaimed. I pull my hand away from Fern's grip. If I looked back right then and there, I could've seen how hurt he looked by that action.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him, not daring to look at him at all. I didn't want to see his expression. I'm sure what I did a few hours ago wasn't acceptable.
River approaches us, "I was just with my friends a few minutes ago," he chuckles. I shivered in delight. God, he's amazing in every way. "I didn't think I would see the girl who blurted out me being her "potential boyfriend" here with her sister." He continued, and smirked at me.
