A Bundle of Joy

"Head's up!" a shout came from behind.

Denice snapped her head towards an incoming football. She squinted her eyes and jumped lightly catching the strongly thrown ball.

"Nice catch," a blond boy jogged towards her. His perfect white teeth somehow glistened, and his hazel brown eyes glowed.

Denice gave a nod then smirked before tossing the ball to the blond boy.

"Name's Jacob," he said with a smile.

Denice popped her gum and placed it in a wrapper. She glanced towards her side then threw the small wrapper shooting it perfectly in a garbage bin that was a few feet away.

"Denice," she answered flatly, then walked away.

"You totally got ditch by a chick bro," Aaron teased Jacob and placed an arm around his shoulder.

"Don't blame him dude, she's still new here," Mike said as he reached the two.

      "New?" Jacob asked.

"Yeah, she's Denice McKenley. I heard she's a rough rowder. Some says she's a gang leader. But Monice told me she's a nice person," Karl butted in.

"And you believe your freakin' sister?" Aaron said as he rolled his eyes.

Karl punched his shoulder. "Try calling my twin sister that, or you'll regret it," he threatened. "And yes I believe her, they've been hanging out for a week," he added.

"Geez Karl! Don't be so messed up," Aaron said putting his hands up.

"Wait, your sister and Denice had been hanging out?" Jacob asked in disbelief, and all four of them started walking.

"Hey, I just knew it yesterday," Karl replied.

"By the way, we have the same classes as her," Mike said with a smile and patted his shoulder before going in the classroom.

The three followed him, and Jacob saw a girl sitting beside his seat with jet black hair having a genuine smile, talking happily to Monice. She seems harmless, he thought to himself.

"Hey," Jacob said as he walked towards her. Both of the girls stopped talking then looked up.

Monice raised an eyebrow at Jacob. He just gave a smile in return making Monice shake her head.

"Talk to you later," Monice said and stood up.

"Yeah, sure," Denice replied and Monice went back to her seat.

"Didn't know we had the same classes," Jacob said.

"That's because you've been absent this past week," she answered and it took Jacob aback.

"How'd you know that?" he asked curiously then the teacher came in.

Denice turned away to look at the teacher and smiled thoughtfully.

The day ended fast, but the rumors about Denice being a drug dealer and a dancer of a nearby bar a few blocks away from a child center, was faster.

Just as gym class ended and the rest of the girls had washed up, Denice headed towards her gym locker. She took out her blouse and her skirt that was torn into a miniskirt, her only skirt for a uniform was not much of use. She needed to go the child center then to work, so without hesitation she put on her uniform and walked out the gym confidently.
