I was laying in the sun taking a nap when my best friend, Jace pounced on me.

"What the heck! Dude you scared me!"

"Oh well shows you not to nap when we could play!!!"

I looked at my friend and jumped at him. He is large and light brown with a mixture of black and white specks. We role through the leaves nipping at each other.

"Are you guys done flirting?" We stopped and looked at the wolf of which the voice came from.

"We aren't flirting Caleb." Caleb was Jace's older brother and he likes me. Either way he is like a brother to me and sometimes he calls me his sister.

"Yeah sure. That's why you are playing in a field." He smiled and look at me. His fur was a white color that glowed in the sun. We all started laughing at that except for Jace, who looked embarrassed. I nudged him and then tackled him, nipping at his ears while he tried to push me off of him. I laugh and nuzzled him, he returned the nuzzle. I stood up and looked at Jace. He returned the look and we all pounced onto Caleb. We laughed and barked and when we got the chance we would run away, but Caleb caught us with no problem.

After playing for a while we stopped and were out of breath. So we went to the stream where the water is always cool and we each got a drink. After our drink we laid down in the sun and laid there in silence.

"Are you two excited?" I looked at Caleb and cocked my head.

"For what?" I looked at Jace, he was just as confused.

Caleb rolled his eye, "For your first hunt."

"Oh yeah! We forgot... Is that tonight?" Jace asked my question for me.

"Yeah! Are you two ready?"

"Yeah... I just need to do some last minute training" as I said this I stood up and ran. I could hear Jace stand up and chase me. I didn't need last minute training, I just don't think I can do this. I can take down rabbits and mice but not an elk. Our pack starts out small with mice and then rabbits and if you succeed at both you go up to elk. You start hunting elk when you are almost a year old. I don't even think my pack leader will let me hunt, let alone help take down the beast. I could hear Jace gaining so I took a sharp turn and jumped over logs and rocks and bolted around trees. Unlike me, Jace was not as agile. He was to an extent. He does much better running through a field.

At one point I made it out of the forest and got to a field. I knew that Jace would catch me here but I kept going. I could hear Jace panting behind me. I kept going and then I felt Jace's weight on top of me. He had jumped from behind me to on top of me.

We were out of breath and he wouldn't let me up.

"Jace! *pant* why would you *pant* do that?!?"

"Why did you run?!?" He took a deep breath and caught his breath. He let me up and I sat up but didn't run.

Once I caught my breath I looked at him.  "Do you think Jackson will let me hunt?" He looked at me confused as if I had just did three back flips.

"What?!?"

"Do you think Jackson will let me hunt?" My friend nuzzled me and then looked at me.

"Why wouldn't he?" I stared at my friend for a moment.

"Because I'm different from everyone else."

"That doesn't matter. Now how about we go to the main area and find Zeke."

Zeke was my only other best friend. His fur is dark black and wavy, odd, but my pack isn't known for its normal pack members.
