I know this chapter is a little shorter compared to the others, which is probably a good things, but yeah haha. Let me know what you think! Hope you enjoy.
The comforting sound of birds chirping and the leaves of the trees dancing in the cool winter breeze awoke Tyler. He could feel a smile spread across his face as he stared at the ceiling of his bunk, remembering what had occurred the night before.
"We're only here for a few hours, guys and gals. Let's make them count." Luke had spoke, as everyone held up their whiskey-filled shot glasses for a toast to a night that would change all of them forever. Tyler tossed it back, the tangy flavor filling him with a warm sensation. After a few minutes of conversations, congrats, and thank yous, everyone went their own ways. Some to the dance floor, most to the bar counter for some more liquor. Tyler was among the second crew. He looked to his phone, wishing he could call up Brian and talk him in to coming, but he knew it was no use. That night wouldn't be the same without him. They were supposed to celebrate together, after all. Tyler shook his head, running a hand through his hair. He'd have to figure some way to have fun, since he did deserve to celebrate, after all. He looked to Luke, who had already ordered a second drink. When his eyes met Tyler's, he gave him a thumbs up. Tyler felt happy- genuinely happy. He had forgotten how terribly he missed touring until that day. Sure, it was new territory, but over the years of hopping bar to bar and being a guest on Jake Owen's tour, they had a certain eagerness to play. So far, it hadn't disappeared. Tyler stared into the now empty shot glass in front of him, wondering what the end of the year would be like for Brian and himself. From here, they could only go up. He knew that. He trusted that their fan base would build, as it had, day by day. It was an exciting time for sure. He couldn't help but smile when he thought about the bright future him and Brian had. They were living a dream, that's for sure. He held up his hand for the bartender, signaling for another shot. Little did he know that was his last bit of alcohol for the night. It took something else to get him buzzin'.
"Eric?" Tyler heard a female's sweet voice to the right of him. He turned to look back at her, a confused expression upon his face. When their eyes met, it was game over. Tyler was shocked to see a beautiful woman, clad in a red cocktail dress, honey brown curls bouncing about her shoulders. She wore minimal makeup, but was still undeniably attractive. Her skin was a beautiful tan, as if she had been kissed by the sun just enough times. Her emerald green eyes seemed too pretty to be real. When she saw Tyler's face, she broke into a smile, revealing her dimples. "Oh. I'm so sorry, I'm supposed to be meeting up with this guy, Eric, and you look similar to him from behind. It probably didn't help any that I forgot to put in my contacts." She brushed a strand of hair away from her face as she let out a chuckle. Tyler couldn't help but gape at her. He had never seen a woman quite like her. She was stunning. When he realized he had been staring for too long, he adverted his gaze as he thought of a way to strike up on conversation. But- should he? Maybe it wasn't such a good idea. After all, she was supposed to be meeting up with a guy.
"Don't worry about it, it's all good." Tyler replied, stumbling upon his words. He wanted her to stay. He wanted to get to know her- desperately. But what would he say? She looked around the room, most likely searching for the man whom she was supposed to have drinks with. After a few seconds, however, she made eye contact with Tyler once more.
"Do you mind if I sit here? You know, until my date gets here." She adjusted the purse strap on her shoulder as she studied Tyler's expression. Tyler couldn't help but notice how worried she looked. But why? What was there to worry about? Tyler wouldn't bite. When he realized he hadn't answered, he quickly nodded his head.
"Sure, it's all yours. Here, let me help." Tyler quickly stood up and pulled the stood back, allowing her to sit on it. She smiled up at him, obviously charmed by his gentleman ways. If his dad taught him anything, it was how to treat a lady. And boy does that work in his favor.
