Hey everyone! My writer's block is gone and the creativity is flowing! Please ignore the typos I edited this fairly quickly. I have other ideas in the works that I'll hopefully have time to work on, but don't hold me to it. This chapter is decently long so I hope it makes up for my lack of writing. Enjoy! :)
(PS. reread the previous chapter if you forgot what happened)
*Continuing from Luke's flashback chapter*
A ray of sunshine streamed across Luke's face as he awakened, it's warmth almost comforting. He rubbed the sleep from his tired eyes and turned to read his alarm clock, which flashed 10:24 AM. He sat up, realizing he had a pounding headache. Well, it's what he should've expected. You can't drink more than a six pack without some consequences. He looked around the bus, realizing it was empty. His band and crew probably headed to the gym, where he should've been as well. The throbbing in his head, however, suggested otherwise. He sat up, running a hand over his face groggily. He had fallen asleep on the couch instead of his bunk, most likely because he was too tired to move after last night's events. He looked out the window, studying his surroundings. The bus had made it to the venue where the festival was held and was parked near the buses of other performers. He reached for his phone on the counter beside him, scrolling through his messages, only skimming over them. Reading only made his headache worse.
Congrats on the awards buddy, sorry I couldn't hang last night. Maybe we could get drinks after our sets tomorrow? -Jason Aldean
Nice shot dude! How 'bout we got hunting next time you're in Alabama? -Greg
Ah! Two awards! Great job bud. -Thomas Rhett
Can't wait until we get to tour with Mr. Entertainer of the year himself. Great job man. -BK
I'm so proud of you baby. I love you so much and miss you dearly. Have fun at your festival tomorrow and call me when you get a chance, I'm excited to talk to you. xoxo -Caroline
Luke stopped scrolling when he came across her name, a small smile spreading across his face. He typed out a message quickly:
Hey baby- last night wasn't the same without you. I didn't want to go out but Carter made me (you know how he is). I miss you so much, I can't wait until I'm back home, in your arms. I love you with all my heart and soul- to the moon and back. Give the boys a kiss for me. Talk to you later. xoxo- Luke.
He smiled, wondering what she was doing at that moment- probably getting the boys to school. He chuckled to himself, picturing it. Caroline would pace around the house, stressed and in a frenzy, even though she'd have plenty of time to get them there. She was always that way- but he loved that about her. Luke ran a hand through his hair, bringing his hand away from his face when he noticed that his ring wasn't on. He swallowed hard, his chest tightening. It felt strange not to wear it- it had become a part of him. He searched within his tux jacket, in hopes that it would be in one of the pockets. He let out a frustrated sigh when it was nowhere to be found. He shoved his hand into his pocket of his slacks, feeling his body relax with he came in contact with it. He slipped it on his finger slowly, unsure of why it was off in the first place. He decided it didn't matter- as long as he didn't lose it. He picked up his phone once again, scrolling and responding to other messages he had recieved that congratulated him. He felt his pulse speed up, however, when he recieved a message from an unfamiliar number. It didn't have a name- just a suspicious message that made his stomach churn.
Thanks for last night- I had a lot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing you later today... :)
He swallowed hard, feeling sick suddenly. He pushed his phone aside, hoping it was a wrong number. It was likely, right? He wanted to think postiviely, but given how much he drank the previous night, he could hardly remember anything. He burried his face into his palms and cursed himself quietly. Just when he peeled his hands from his face, he noticed a piece of clothing that had been tossed with his beside him on the couch. He grabbed it, noticing the blue lace panties before him- women's panties. He dropped them quickly, the sickening feeling only worsening. He didn't know what to do with himself- did he sleep with someone? He bit his lip, trying desperately to remember the events of the previous night. He couldn't have- could he? Suddenly, as if on cue, he heard the sound of heels clacking against the hardwood floors, bringing him back to reality. He looked up, his brown eye's meeting a woman's blue. She had a sheet from the bunk wrapped around her naked body, hugging at each of her curves. She smiled at him sweetly.
