Maya opened her eyes and found her looking into eyes as big and blue as the ocean. She grinned, He ran a hand through his soft brown hair, it was a habit he done when he was nervous, Maya always watched him do it in front of other girls but she never gave into hope that one day he would be nervous around her. He touched her cheek sending electric shocks through her, his other hand travelled down the side of her body, over her hip, until he found her hand and laced his finger through hers. He leaned in and she closed her eyes, their lips centimetres apart, the gap slowly closing...
The blonde beauty awoke with a big yawn and a wide stretch.
"Josh", she whispered, smiling to herself. Unlike most mornings where she woke with a coldness around her until she and Riley met up and her smile returned, she woke up today excited for what was to come. Riley was her sunshine, she was the reason she ever laughed. Riley taught her how to love and that it was okay to hope. Some people say hope just disappointed you but Riley taught Maya it was something to look forward to, something to motivate you. Maya never completely believed her, how could she when hope never gave her anything back.
"Mum!" Maya screamed at the top of her lungs, checking if her mum was in, it echoed through her empty apartment. Katy, her mum was working like most days so she had the place to herself. Just then the phone began ringing, startling her. "Hello, If this is some stupid call person asking if I need my stairs done up, I'm tired of telling you that I don't have any stairs," She shouted, getting angry. She almost hung up, but then she heard laughter through the phone, she could almost imagine him sitting in front of her, his shoulders shaking from laughing. "Shawn, are you kidding me. You couldn't have stopped me from ranting".
He breathed deeply before replying, "Sorry Maya, when you get going there's no stopping you", he began laughing hysterically again.
"Maya", he said becoming serious," I know I said I was arriving tonight but unfortunately I have to deal with some work issues so I won't be able to see you until Thursday, I'm really sorry I know you were planning the weekend for us."
"Don't worry, hope everything's alright at work", She lied, "I'll see you soon."
Maya had been planning dinner for Shawn tonight, she even let Lucas teach her how to cook as he knows how to do everything( Mr Perfect). She was a little annoyed but it meant she would have more time to spend with Josh, who was flying in tonight. Her heart fluttered at the thought of seeing him again, it had been months since she had last seen him. Whenever he was in town, he said he was spending family time with the Matthews, which hurt her feelings considering she was always considered part of the family. But she knew the truth was that he just didn't want to see her but she was determined to change his mind, while he was in New York during the holidays.
