"Team, wildcats!"
Stepping into the apartment, I was met with immediate loud music coming from Dan's room. I say Dan's room; we basically shared it nowadays. It was where we slept, sometimes hung out, and did other things. And apparently, held unconventional dance parties to... Was that High School Musical I heard?
"Work together, this is the last chance to make our mark. History will know who we are! This is the last game so make it count, it's now or never, yeah!"
The music got louder as I opened the bedroom door, finding Dan, flushed and giddy, in the middle of leaping off the bed. Catching sight of me, he lost his balance completely and toppled to the floor, his pale pink flower crown landing unceremoniously in front of me feet. I burst out laughing and bent down to pick it up.
"You dropped something..." I walked closer to Dan and held out my hand to him. Head down, he grabbed it, and pulled himself up. Gently, I placed the flower crown on top of his head, adjusting his hair to fall around it and then cupping his cheek in my hand.
"Hey, cutie, having fun?" Dan blushed furiously and turned away from me, embarrassed beyond words.
"I- I was just- don't laugh at me!"
I couldn't help it. He looked so adorable right now, fidgeting agitatedly in front of me with the soundtrack of High School Musical playing on in the background. I didn't even try to stop myself from leaning in and pecking his cheek.
I felt his muscles loosen as I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him closer to me. The wristband on his arm made a weird squeaking noise against my leather jacket, and he placed both hands on my chest and bent his head the tiniest amount to kiss me.
Carefully, almost cautiously, I moved my lips against Dan's, slotting our mouths together neatly and slipping my hand under his pale blue t-shirt, splaying my fingers over the small of his back. He nibbled at my lip ring a little before pulling away and ducking his head, even more bashful than before. I thought a little, tapping my finger against his back and listening to the song playing in the background.
"Well if Troy can tell his secret, then I can tell mine...I bake."
Dan snapped his head up in disbelief and gazed at me. "What?"
"I love to bake! Strudels, scones, even apple pandowdy..."
I watched the smile slowly spread over his face as it sunk in what I was doing, and then he pulled away a little more.
"Not another sound!"
I put one hand on my hip and grinned at Dan. "Someday, I hope to make the perfect creme brulee."
Dan leapt into action and climbed onto the bed, his lilac skinny jeans barely hanging on beneath his useless belt as he starting dancing wildly.
"No, no, no, nooooooooooo!" He sang, whirling his arms. I joined in singing.
"No, no, no, stick to the stuff you know. If you wanna be cool, follow one simple rule, don't mess with the flow, no no..."
I jogged over to the bed and grabbed Dan's hands, beginning to dance a little with him. "Stick to the status quo!"
Dan pulled me up onto the bed and then took his spotlight, pulling a ludicrous sassy pose and beginning his solo.
"Look at me, and what do you see? Intelligence beyond compare! But inside I am stirring, something strange is occurring - It's a secret I need to share!"
I moved over to Dan and placed my hands on his hips.
"Open up, dig way down deep!"
"Hip hop is my passion! I love to pop and lock and jam and break!" Dan twisted with each verb, ending up with his back against my front, my arms wound around him.
"Is that even legal? Not another peep!"
"It's just dancing. Sometimes I think it's cooler than homework." He was giggling by now, barely stuttering his way through the second chorus with me as we jumped on the bed. When the chorus finished, I pulled him round to face my, keeping my arms around him.
"Listen well, I'm ready to tell about a need that I cannot deny! Dude, there's no explanation, for this awesome sensation, but I'm ready to let it fly!"
Dan leaning in close to me and sang against my lips.
"Speak your mind and you'll be heard..."
I grinned. "Alright, if Troy wants to be a singer... then I'm coming clean! Lift up my shirt."
"W-what? Aren't you supposed to say 'I play the cello'?" Dan said, bewildered. Smiling mysteriously, I simply gestured for him to follow my order.
Confused, Dan placed his hands at the bottom of my black t-shirt and then slowly lifted it up, struggling a little because of my jacket. It was okay, though, he wouldn't need to move it far...
"Oh!" Dan let out a cute, surprised little gasp, and I felt his fingers tracing my side in awe. Sketching the outline of the detailed bear that was forever etched there, along with name written in swirls beneath it. I couldn't help myself when his little face was so blissed out and his eyes were wide with surprise; I leaned forward and caught his lips with mine.
"It's really cute," Dan murmured against my mouth in between kisses. "But does this mean I have to get a lion? I've never had a tattoo..."
I chuckled, letting my breath wash over his chin.
"Stick the stuff you know."
