Kingdom Of The Lost

Chapter 1

I run hurriedly, trying to escape from my brother that was chasing after me, and I almost fall in a fit of giggles as I struggle not to let him catch up to me as he chases after me, around the front foyer of our castle.

" you'll never catch me!" I squeal and continue running.

" keep saying that!" He bellows happily and keeps chasing after me.

Hi. My name is Alexa. Right now I'm about four years old and my fifteen year old brother is chasing me through the hallways of our castle, that belonged to our parents who are in the mid- thirties.

My brother, Alec, catches up to me and picks me up, and throws me into the air, catching me as I scream.

" gotcha little princess!!" He says, tickling me as I scream playfully and squirm to get away from his arms.

" Alector!" We hear the booming of my fathers voice. "Place Alexandra down immediately!"

Alec practically drops me, but quickly places me down gently.

It was never good when our father used our full names.

" you mother is sick, and you two decide to rejoice and have fun," he spits.

" sorry father," Alec and I say in sync as our heads droop.

" go to the market and demand some medicine, now," he says and points a finger to the main doors that where as tall as three houses stacked onto each other.

We were about to leave when father reminds us:" and never, never, play in the main hall, understand? This area is for others to walk in and praise their surroundings and bask in my glory," he hisses.

we nod our heads and as we where about to walk out, one of our most-liked house maids runs up to us with a pair of cloaks. Alec's a deep, navy blue and mine a rich, blood red colour.

She begins to strap them around our necks when Alec waves her off with a small smile of appreciation and straps in his and my cloak on, and before we walk out, I spot Alec grab a wallet,and we walk out hand in hand.

" why did you take your wallet, Alec?" I ask curiously, remembering that father specifically told us to demand medicine. Without money.

" because I'm going to be a leader someday," he says," and leaders are kind and care about their folk. We have enough money, they are the ones in need of help."

" oh," I say quietly as I jump through the leaves.

Alec watches me.

" hey Alexa?" Alec calls.

" yes?" I ask

" don't tell daddy," he says and I nod as he smiles and I continue to jump around in the leaves

We make it to the market in about 45 minutes.

" yay! Look at all the people!" I squeal and run from market table to market table, staring curiously at all their merchandise.

" yes, many people," he says quietly and takes my hand, bringing me to a market table with medicine.

" how may I do you good sir?" The marketer asks to Alec, but I wasn't listening. My eyes were watching a little boy, around my age, walk around. My! He is only four! I tug on Alec's cloak, but he wasn't listening.
The boy had a young dragon, wrapping around his shoulder, as he wore a cloak, similar to mine, except dark green. To blend in.

The dragon ducks underneath the cloak, before anyone could see, but I already saw.

" thank you," Alec's voice brings me back to the present.

I look up. "Can we go home now?" I ask, tugging on his cloak as I spot that he was holding a bag.

" yes," he sighs.

I stare after the little boy that soon was engulfed by the crowds of people.

" something wrong Alexa?" Alec asks, but I quickly shake my head, a little too enthusiastically.

Before we could leave, we heard the sound of hoof steps on stone.

Nearby townspeople that were talking by the market place, stare at the herd of soldiers trampling up to us.

Except they weren't our soldiers.

They were the soldiers that belonged to the kingdom of Detron, the kingdom right beside ours, the kingdom of Eviny. The soldiers near, all their horses were black, and so was their armour, black and red and deadly.

The crowd erupts in screams as everyone scrambles up the stone way paths, wanting to get away. Yet Alec and I stood there, Alec's eyes narrow as his hand was placed on the handle of his long and dreadful sword.

I stare at the glinting black armour, mesmerized.

They slow their horses when they are about a meter away from us, the rest of the marketers and townspeople already left for cover, or where cowering in the shadows of their homes, watching as their future king and queen where being provoked by soldiers from the kingdom of Detron.

" we need Alexandra Eviny,"the soldier leading the pack of five others says in a rusty voice.

" no," Alec practically growls.

" seize him," he nods at the five other guards to charge at Alec, and they did, Alec pulling out his sword and knocks the first attacker off his horse, mostly by surprise.

" run Alexa!" Alec shouts as the soldiers grab his sword and wrestle him for dominance.

I run, but not far, for the large leader knight stops me.

" c'mere, sweetie, we don't want to hurt you," the large knight barges in front of me and crouches down to my height.

" such a beautiful little girl, don't you want to be a princess already? And lead our kingdom?" The knight asks and I shake my head.

" aw baby girl, did you know that you were originally from our kingdom?" The knight asks and I stare at him in shock. Hey I was four.

" don't-listen-to-him!" I hear Alec scream as he continues to wrestle the Knights, to save his little sister.

I stare from between the guard and my brother, torn apart.

" Claud!" The leader knight bellows.

One knight from the pack of wrestlers, back out of the battle and looks over to his leader.

" yes general?"

" gas her," he says and throws Claud a glass bottle, with strange gadgets that I couldn't tell which one was which.

Claud presses some buttons and the air in the glass jar turns a faded yellowish colour. Claud walks up and forcefully presses the mask, that was attached to one end, on my nose and mouth.

I scream but he already presses a green button, and I feel my lungs fill with the gas, it felt like something burning. Everything slows down and I look around strangely as everything slowly turns to darkness. The last thing I heard was the loosing scream of Alec, pleading for the Knights to give his sister back.

Hey guys.
For the first chapter, the main character is four (ya read something new everyday) and yes her name is Alexa Eviny in the first chapter, and in the second her name is switched again to Alo Detron. Also this first chapter is just a flashback. I'm not spoiling the rest! 😘
