Chapter 11: Turnabout Lockdown - Trial 1 ~ Part 1

March 16 9:30am

District Court

Defendant Lobby No. 1 ~ Lily Shield's POV

"Good morning, Lily!" Chrysalis called out to me with a smile.

"Morning!" I cried in response. "You all ready for the trial?"

"As ready as I'll ever be, I guess. Big bro's still pretty weary of me being in the courthouse... ever since that case..."

"You mean... QS-5, don't you?" I asked. "The triple murders..."

Neither of us said any more when Ms. Caputo entered the room, a little brighter than she was yesterday. "Good morning, you two." she said, giving us a typical officer salute. "Today's the day, huh?"

"... Yeah." I nodded, glancing at Chrysalis. She didn't return the glance, rather shying away from my gaze. The QS-5 Incident must still bother her...

"Defense! Defendant! Please proceed into the courtroom!" the bailiff yelled, making me jump slightly.

"Alright, it's go time!" I shouted encouragingly to my team.

March 16 10:00am

District Court

Courtroom No. 1

"Court is now in session for the trial of Dana Caputo." My Lord announced. "Is the defense ready?"

"My Shield of Justice is ready, My Lord!" I smirked. I loved saying that line!

"Ah, Ms. Lily Shield. As energetic as ever, I see." My Lord nodded my way. "And the prosecution?"

"The prosecution is also ready." Robbie responded, arms crossed and looking pretty serious today. He better not go too easy on me just because I'm his little sister!

"Very good. Please give your opening statement, Prosecutor Shield." My Lord requested.

"Actually, why don't we let my co-counsel give the opening statement?" Robbie glanced at Prosecutor Wood, who was stood beside him.

"wHAT-" Prosecutor Wood almost shrieked. "Why me...?!"

"Call it... gaining experience." Robbie smirked.

Prosecutor Wood was about to object, but quickly saw no point in it. "A-Anyway..." she stammered, eager to get back on topic. "Opening statement... right... well, the crime took place at the local prison. The defendant, Dana Caputo, is suspected of killing a friend and fellow guard, Gene Rochester. The defendant's gun was the murder weapon and found there at the scene, which is why we arrested her on suspicion of murder!"

"Very good." Robbie praised the younger prosecutor, to which the latter smiled happily. I guess she likes recieving praise from her superiors a bit too much.

"The prosecution may call it's first witness." My Lord said.

"The prosecution-"

"The prosecution calls the detective in charge of the investigation to the witness stand!" Prosecutor Wood interrupted Robbie completely.
