Butters Stotch had just woken up from his nap and had just finished his look over in the mirror. He'd usually spend at least twenty minutes a day just making sure everything looked just right. When he was finally done, he ran a hand through his hair and noticed something strange.
"Huh?" He said pulling a single strand of hair "A gray hair."
He just stood there and inspected the small piece of hair. In all his fourty years of life, he never once found a piece of gray hair.
"Hey! babe!" Butters's husband said walking in and kissing Butters on the cheek "How are you?"
"I have a gray hair." He muttered looking at it still.
"You have a what?" Eric asked confused "Oh you mean my Butters is getting old?"
"No!" He said "I just have a gray hair, that's it!" He then raised his eyebrow "So ha!"
"Well I," Cartman said pointing to his chest "Am doing well, and I'm not aging anytime soon."
Butters rolled his eyes as Cartman did a twirl and ran a hand through his brown hair. Eric wasn't all young and amazing as he wanted to be. True he had his brown hair but that didn't mean he wasn't aging. Eric had crows feet and overall just a few more wrinkles than before he turned fourty.
"Yeah yeah Eric," Butters said "I'm sure you will be young forever, Eric Cartman can't age at all!"
"Damn right!" Eric grinned "Anyways, are you finally ready? We need to get going, the Jew isn't going to wait for too long."
"Yes I know," Butters said and followed Eric out the door. It didn't take long for the couple to get to the Broflovski's. It was a weekly tradition for the Broflovski's invite people over for dinner. Eric and Butters were their usual guests.
"I wish the kids were coming with us," Butters sighed leaning his elbow on the window, staring blankly at the window.
"You know Abby is out of town and Sammy is out." Eric said parking in front of the house. Butters sighed, knowing his husband was right and got out of the car. Butters looked at the ground as the two knocked walked to the door.
Eric raised a hand to knock but then looked back at Butters. "Are you okay? Should we go home?"
Butters shook his head vigorously "No knock, I'm alright."
Eric nodded and knocked on the door. It wasn't long before Bebe answered the door smiling at her friends. "Hey guys!" She said leading them inside "You came just in time."
"I hope you are fucking eating already because I'm not waiting." Eric said walking into the dining room and greeting Kyle. Butters was still deep in thought about the conversation he had earlier with Eric. He was not getting old because of one gray hair, many people in his family grayed early, it was genetic not age.
"Butters? Butters!" Butters had not realized how he had gone lost in thoughts. Everyone was sitting at the table and eating, Butters was just thinking and not realizing what was going on around him.
"Butters pass the water," Kyle had said for the third time "Come on man it's not hard. Butters nodded and passed over the water pitcher. He sighed and finally decided he couldn't keep in his thoughts anymore.
"Have any you thought about aging?" He blurted out. Everyone looked up at him, slightly confused.
"Um yeah?" Kyle said "What do you mean?"
"He's just upset because he found a gray hair and now is self conscious about getting old," Eric said his mouth full with food.
"I am not!" Butters retorted "I was just thinking that we are in our forties now and I was wondering how everyone was doing."
"Well I have found a few gray hairs," Bebe said "Well actually I have a whole of gray but I dye it so it's not noticeable."
"I sometimes have gray in my beard," Kyle said touching his scruff "Though I don't usually grow it out."
Cartman snorted "Well I personally have no gray anywhere, I guess I'm a golden human being."
Butters rolled his eyes "Trust me Eric, you'll get gray one day and I'll laugh my ass off when you do."
Eric hadn't really payed attention to Butters's words and definitely still believed he'd be young forever. This thought remained in his mind as he brushed teeth before goingto bed.
"Yup Eric," He said running a hand through his hair "You're absolutely beautiful......WHAT THE HELL?"
He had brushed back his bangs, revealing a whole patch of gray. Eric's eyes widened and he felt his heart dropped. The more he tried to brush the hair away, the more gray was revealed.
"No no no!" He said freaking out "I can't gray I just can't!"
"Baby?" Butters said sleepily knocking on the door "You coming to bed?"
"Uh yeah!" Eric said looking for some hair dye "I'll be there in a second!"
"Okay." He yawned going back to bed.
Eric frantically dyed his hair, like he had been doing for awhile now. In reality he had been aging fast and his hair was almost completely gray but he wouldn't ever let it show. He couldn't have anyone know he was aging, nobody.
Butters was laying in bed, trying not to fall asleep until Eric came to bed. He had honestly forgotten the whole "gray hair" argument and just lived with the fact that Eric was too stubborn to age.
"Hey Eric," Butters smiled as he felt arms go around him "You okay? You were in the bathroom for awhile."
"Yes I'm okay," Eric said feeling as if he was going to cry. "I was just making sure I looked extra amazing."
He giggled "Yeah of course." He said closing his eyes. Eric turned off the lights and layed his head down into the pillows. The two stayed silent for a moment until Eric cleared his throat.
"Butters?"
"Yeah?"
"Remember when you were all scared about aging?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, I'm scared too...I don'twant to lose my youth."
"Well Eric Cartman will never lose his youth, he's the golden man." Butters giggled.
"Yeah," Eric laughed nervously "But really I'm not, Butters I am aging, more than I want to be."
Butters looked surprised and turned to him "What do you mean?"
Eric sighed and turned on the light, revealing his almost all gray hair. Butters's eyes widened and covered his mouth. Eric saw his face and buried his face in his hands.
"I'm so fucking old!" He cried "I'll probably die tomorrow or something."
Butters sighed and hugged his husband "No, you are getting old but who isn't? We are all aging Eric, but it doesn't matter, it doesn't affect how much we love you, especially me. I don't care how gray your hair is or how much wrinkles you have. You're still the amazing guy I fell in love with a long time ago. Besides those wrinkles and gray hairs represent all the great years we've had together. So treasure them."
Eric nuzzled into his shoulder. "Yeah...yeah I guess so....but I still want to be young."
"Then keep dying your hair," Butters said "We'll keep the gray our little secret."
Eric pulled away and smiled at him. Butters smiled and pecked his lips. The two shared a loving kiss before going to sleep. Butters slept well that night, for he had finally won.
