Aurora looked out the window, viewing the greenery that would blur past her. A frown meaner than the Grinch's was plastered on her face. Aurora couldn't think positively about the whole summer thing. She was a party girl from the city; she already knew they weren't going to throw hardcore parties with under-age drinking and she wasn't going to be able to go to the mall.
Aurora sighed loudly; she purposely did it to get her mom's attention. Her mom noticed, but didn't say anything. She wasn't going to fall like other times. She was going to be firm with her punishment and make sure that Aurora learned something from that experience. Aurora bothered with the fact that her mother ignored her; pouted her lips and returned to look out the window. Aurora saw a small-looking cottage that with the movement of the car grew size.
The speed of the car slowed down while two figures were waving from outside the small cottage. As soon as they arrived and Anna parked; she jumped out the car to greet the woman who was running over to her side. Aurora's mother and the woman went in for a hug, that lasted a decade, and chattered about friend things. Aurora, being her bratty self, didn't get out of the car and just took out her phone to check her texts. She at that moment realized that the signal was horrible and that she wasn't going to be able to text her "friends".
"This is complete bullshit" she muttered and quickly shoved her phone into her short's pocket. She glanced at the window. When she jumped up from her seat and slammed her head against the top of the car with a loud thud. She groaned and looked out the window, once again, while rubbing her head. There stood a boy with a concerned look on his face, who had his knuckles against the window as if he had been interrupted from knocking. She yanked her earplugs from her ears while she left them blasting loud music and wasting her phone's battery. She shoved her earplugs into her pocket, where her phone was, and opened the door. He had already moved and didn't get hit by the door. The first thing he did wasn't introduce himself or ask her name.
"Are you okay?" He looked at her carefully, a crease forming between his eyebrows. Aurora's head was throbbing like hell and she had this urge to use sarcasm on him, but she decided to just give him a nod. He nodded and quickly pointed his thumb towards the trunk of the car. Aurora assumed it was for the bags and she nodded once, lost interest in "talking" with him and decided to just observe her nails.
Her thoughts were interrupted by her mother's voice. She looked up from her nails and faced her mother. Anna smiled weakly and wrapped her arms around her. Aurora didn't hug her back. She just stood there with her arms against her sides with a straight face. Anna pulled back from the hug and from how watery her eyes looked you could tell that the refusal of her daughter towards her hug really hurt her. Her mother quickly sniffed and turned around to give her friend a goodbye hug. She waved goodbye towards Markson, who was already moving Aurora's things inside. Anna gave her daughter one last glance, before she got back in her car and drove away.
"It's good to have you here, Aurora" Her mother's friend, Mandy, wrapped one arm around Aurora's shoulder. Her smile wide, dimples forming on her cheeks and crinkles around the side of her eyes. Aurora didn't have much to say and just forced a smile while Mandy pulled her along.
As soon as they entered they were greeted by a homey feel. The house itself had a warm feeling, it even warmed Aurora's heart a bit.Mandy removed her arm from Aurora's shoulder and looked at her.
"I know I have to be a lotta more strict with ya, but Imma let you have your fun" she spoke to Aurora carefully. "The only rules in this house, is to be back in the house by 10o'clock and not to wake my husband, nor I before nine in the weekend, unless someone is dying"
Aurora thought they were kind of stupid rules. The whole 10o'clock seems weird to her, since she never actually had a curfew and would just go back home at whatever hour she wanted. Sometimes, she wouldn't even go home, until the next day. At least, it wasn't a list and just two rules. She could deal with that.
"Head upstairs to the second room on the left, so you can unpack"
Aurora gave Mandy a short look then headed upstairs. She found Markson leaning on the door, that gave entrance to the guestroom. Aurora eyed him from head to toe. She didn't even make an effort to hide the fact that she was checking him out and she just walked up to the door and before she entered she made a very unnecessary comment.
"You're a nine out of ten" she mentioned it casually and opened the door, revealing a room that resembled a white marshmallow.
"Thanks, that's very kind of you" he replied while he carried her bags inside her white room. The walls were white, the curtains were white, the sheets were white, even the feeling of the room was white. The room felt pure and Aurora wasn't comfortable in it. She looked around the room while she showed a lack of interest of her room.
"Your welcome" she answered while she felt the texture of the curtain and slowly pulled away. Markson was distracted with collocating Aurora's bags in a proper place around her room. When Aurora tugged on the curtain and moved them aside, so she could look out the window. Now, what Aurora saw was something a decent person shouldn't go through or a normal person should do, but Aurora Clanten wasn't a decent person and the boy who was staring back at her wasn't a normal person.
