Me: Come on, get in the damn car.

I groaned, to myself quietly, seeing Toby was standing a few feet from my car as he talked to his friends outside of his school. I noticed him smile and wave, some girl doing the same and walking over.

Oh hell no.

I honked the horn before they could hug, Toby jumping and turning around to look at me. I rolled the window down as he walked to the window with furrowed brows.

Me: Get in now or you're walking yourself home.

Toby: All right, damn –

He groaned angrily, turning and looking at his friends. He said a goodbye before turning around and getting in my car.

Toby: I can't believe you embarrassed me in front of my friends.

Me: I embarrassed you? God forbid –

I replied angrily, braking the car harshly at the four way stop so he could understand how angry I was with him.

Toby: Yeah, you embarrassed me!

Me: Like it's not embarrassing for me to watch you shamelessly flirt with some other girl in front of me?

Toby: What?

Me: Mr. Be-my-girlfriend is flirting with another girl.

Toby: I never said I was going to pursue this girl; when I asked you out, I was serious.

Me: Yeah – Totally.

I replied rather sarcastically, pulling into the driveway of my house and getting out.

Me: Find another ride to school, because I'm no longer comfortable taking you to and from there.

I replied, grabbing my purse and walking into my house. I noticed him follow me inside.

Dad: Toby, can you go home?

Toby: I always come here after school –

Dad: That was before you did whatever you did to make Piper unhappy today, and I'm going to have to ask you to leave.

Toby: So everyone's suddenly against me?

Me: I'm sure your brothers are on your side –

I replied happily, seeing him roll his eyes.

Toby: When you're done being a bitch, come talk to me.

Me: Oh, now I'm the bitch?

Dad: Son, leave my house before I hit you.

He said angrily, breaking through our fighting to get in the last word. After doing so, Toby turned around and walked out of the house, making me sigh.

Me: God, I'm so in love with him.

I groaned while putting my head down on the counter.

Dad: I can't believe you just admitted that out loud.

Me: I'm an idiot for thinking this would work out – I even called it when you let me go on that date.

Dad: I knew you called it, I just thought you were stupid.

I laughed and covered my face.

Me: I want this to work out – so bad.

Dad: And it will – As soon as Toby stops being a little b –

Me: Be gentle –

Dad: Brat –

He corrected with a small smile.

Dad: Does it seriously hurt you when I insult him?

Me: Yeah – Kind of.

Dad: Does it hurt you when you insult him?

Me: That's – different –

I stuttered earning a laugh from my dad.
