THE PARTY
Chapter 2
What I Saw
Lucien's POV
Across the park stood a girl; a short girl with long, dark brown hair. She was kissing someone I couldn't see. All I know is he's kissing my girl, my Elye. She stood like a queen, an alternate reality from who she was two years ago at age 15. She didn't see me, she couldn't. I stood holding a cup of cheap beer, shell shocked. She used to kiss me like that, hold me close to her, just like that. Swarming all around me was the sound of Lil' Wayne and people cheering "Chug! Chug! Chug!"
"Luc, dude! Stop starin', you'll get some ass tonight! Come on, let's play some quarters!" My buddy Dyrrek yelled in my ear and making me jump 10 feet.
"Yeah, let's go." I said, nodding at him and forcing myself to stop looking at her. It wasn't easy. Her soft, curly hair framed her face and fell midway down her back, making her look angelic. I wanted to hold her like when we were younger, when she loved me. Before I fucked up, before Victoria, before the bullshit and lies that were thrown at her with the force of a fast pitch. I regretted it all now, it could have lasted forever. When I looked back over at where Elye was kissing No Name, they were gone. Shit, now what? I needed to talk to her, to see her. I walked away from Dyrrek, who didn't notice, he was talking to some girl. I headed in the direction of where I last saw her. I pushed my way through the crowd and tried to find her, the strobe lights flashing in sync with the beat of the music, something sounding like Suicide Silence and making the crowd mosh like mad. it wasn't exactly the easiest thing to get through, and I most certainly will have bruises in the morning from getting punched in the gut. God, why was I even at this stupid party? Finally, I'd pushed my way through the crowd to the other side of the field. That's when I turned and saw my very worst nightmare.
