Chapter 4:

"Mother do we have to go now?" I heard Elisabeth.

"Yes, so we can leave an impression," Mother snaps.

I watch them walk down the hall, not in dresses, but in heels, Elisabeth was struggling while Alexandra and Mother were fine.

"Are you going out, Mother?" I asked, my voice sounding soft. I knew the truth, but I just curious to what they would say.

"Is that any of your concern?," Elisabeth snapped.

"We were invited to a get together," She said, "but don't get excited, you still have plenty of thing to do. Not a day shall do by when there's not something to be cleaned, made, or changed. Understand?"

I look at her in the eye.

"Yes," I whispered, looking down to my hands.

"I want this place to be spotless when I return,"

I nodded.

And with that, they turn and leave out the door, with Elisabeth and Alexandra right behind. Like baby ducks following their Mother.

Harriet soon enters from the main hall and comes up behind me.

"What did she say?" She asks me.

"I don't think I can do it," I whisper.

"Nonsense, you deserve this more than anything, you hear me?"

"But she wants this place spotless, Harriet-,"

"I can handle it, meanwhile" She turned me to face Anya, who's dresses up as well.

"What are you-?"

"I'm here to get you ready," She smiled, "don't worry I waited until Harriet told me it was okay."

"But there's still a lot of time,"

"Believe me," She said, putting her hand on my shoulder, "we've have plenty of time,"

"What are we doing in here?" I asked Anya as she pushed me into Elisabeth's room.

"Getting you ready for the ball," She said.

"But this is Elisabeths room, we absolutely cannot be in here," I try and move her out but she instead pushed me back in and makes me sit on her bed.

"It'll be fine, Harriet said so."

Harriet.

She turns me to face a silver mirror.

"Stop worrying honey, relax and let me decorate you," She touches my hair, then my face from behind me.

"Trust me honey," she looks at me through the reflection, "when I'm done you won't even recognize yourself."
