After the 5-6 hour stay at the hospital, where they flushed the medicines out of my system, we went back to CedarCreek. We went thru the process and within 6 hours, I was in the hospital and admitted. We traveled down the road to Despondency 1, the building I'd be staying in for a week.

"How do you feel?" Mama asked. "I... I'm afraid..." I replied quietly. She nodded and grabbed my hand. "You will get thru this, I promise." I nodded and smiled sheepishly. As I was about to tell her I loved her, the door to Despondency 1 opened.

"Chryci Slade?" The woman who called my name was light skinned and had kinky golden hair. Her grey eyes sparkled behind her glasses. She looked to be about 20, but she had to be older to work inside a mental institution.

I could barely breathe as I stood up and walked over to her. I looked back and Mama and Wayne were crying. I ran back and gave them a big hug before I left through the wooden door.

"Hello, Ms. Cross." Before the woman could continue, I replied. "Please call me Chrys. Ms. Cross is my mother. and may I ask your name?" She giggled a laugh and continued. "Chrys, my bad. and my name is Vicki. You can call me Vic though." She winked at me on the last sentence and i felt my face heat up.

"Alright Chrys, I need you to take everything but your undergarments off." I looked at her and with a straight face replied, "At least buy me dinner first." She giggled again and explained. "We have a body chart that we have to fill out about any body scars and cuts you may have, as well as check for any drugs or weapons." I nodded and we proceeded.

After that was finished, we walked out and into the main room. there was a triangle of glass between the three halls. Enclosed in the glass was a great oak tree. there was a triangle of huge green plastic chairs with rubber cushioning. This didn't look comfortable at all.

"The patients are at lunch right now so we'll take you to them." Vic smiled down at me and led me past a wall that had a glass window. "What is that?" I asked. She followed my line of sight then nodded in understanding. "That is the nurse's station. It is where you'll get the medications you are on as well as any medicines the doctor may prescribe you."

We passed through a set of double wooden doors and came into a triangle room with two doors. We went through the one on the right. I walked in and saw around a dozen girls all staring at me with their trays n front of them. A girl with curly red hair and golden brown eyes stood up and walked over to me.

"Hi, I'm Suzie. Welcome to CedarCreek." I blushed and looked down at my feet as I replied. "H-Hi, I'm Chrys." She frowned and leaned in. "What'd you say?" I blushed harder and repeated myself louder. She nodded and turned to the other girls. She proceeded to shout, "NEW GIRL'S NAME IS CHRYS!"

Whoops and cheers were heard from all around the room. Finally, a woman in scrubs quieted down the girls. Where are the guys, I thought. The woman walked over to me. I do a quick up down and saw her name tag said Alice.

Alice had a straight black pixie and was very short- in comparison to me that is. She was only about 5 foot. Her emerald eyes sparkled. She was covered in tattoos and had snakebite piercings. She had to be the definition of awesome.

"I'm Alice. Hi Chrys. We saved you some pizza and potatoes." She handed me a styrofoam take out box and left me to my own devices. I looked around the room, afraid to set off the wrong nut and be the cause of someone going off the deep end. I guess I was a nut too, seeing as how I'm now a temporary resident at CedarCreek.

Suzie waved her arms to pull me out of my thoughts. "You there, ginger?" I looked at her and nodded softly. She smiled and called out, "Come sit with us!"

I made my way over and sat next to her. There were three other girls sitting at our table.

A girl with mousy brown hair and glasses that covered her baby blues sat across from Suzie. She smiled and introduced herself. Her name was Marilyn but she went by Sargent. Next to Sargent was a girl with white hair and an eye dermal. Her piercing was a baby blue that complimented her silver eyes. "I'm Abbie," she smiled. And finally across from me was the skinniest girl I'd ever met. She was albino, with curls framing her small face. She blushed, Illuminating her face and stuttered, "I-I'm Marie."

I looked around at these girls and smiled to myself. Already making new friends.

I opened the styrofoam box and saw mushy pizza and stale mashed potatoes. Abbie leaned across the table and over Marie to whisper to me , "Eat up new girl. you ain't gettin' nothing else unless you reach gold." Suzie put her arms around me and replied, "Abbs, shut the hell up and stop confusing her. and by the way, her name is Chrys, not new girl."

Abbie looked at Suzie and nodded. "Sorry Chrys, I never learned your name." I nodded and blushed as I pushed my food away. I looked over to Marie and asked her, "have you eaten?" Before she could reply, Sargent answered. "Marie won't eat. she thinks she's fat."

I looked at Marie and smiled sadly. "Hey Marie?" She looked up at me through her hair and nodded. "Could you please eat something for me? We'll work out afterwards. I'm fat too." Her eyes widened. "Y-You're not f-f-fat." I tilted my head and looked at her. "But then how are you fat if you're skinnier than me?"

She looked at me and smiled. "I-I dunno. I c-c-could eat if it-it makes you happy." I pushed my tray over to her and she nibbled at the pizza. I looked around and everyone at the table was staring at me. "How did you do that?" Suzie asked, amazed. I shrugged and looked at her.

"I guess it's all in your head."
