I sprinted out of the house, screaming and yelling echoing behind me.I knew I would never see any of those people ever again.
Alive or dead.
They had warned me.
"Don't go Aviva. You have been around too long; they are going to catch up. You think they won't come to the biggest party in town looking for everyone?"
But I had insisted on going. One last party wouldn't hurt, right? I would leave right after; nothing would happen, they wouldn't even know I had been there.
I'll admit, I was wrong.
I jog down the rugged wooden steps away from the huge house and land firmly on the sidewalk. I I start running down the dimly lit street crowded with cars, search for my own car not remembering where I had parked.
"Dang" I muttered to myself, "perfect timing. Of course this would happen to me right now"
As I quickly scan the dark street lit by a few flickering street lights for my black Subaru, I remembered I was supposed to figure out who my "companion" was. I was told that we would meet up here since I had insisted on going. Of course, since Ashcroft's Helpers lean toward giving little to no information all Intra could tell me was that I was supposed to meet my companion here as the party ended. Well. I would say the party is over now. So where is she?
I have to say... This is going so great.
I have Ecto on my tail, I can't find my car, and I have no clue who or where my companion. Awesome.
I pull my keys from my pocket clicking the lock button looking around for my car. I see the lights flashing down the street and I take off running towards it.
I hear gunshots ring out through the silence coming from the only house around. The one I was just in. I am pretty sure Intra had a lot of members there. That is going to be a mess for them to deal with.
I slow my running as I approach my car, I see a large, dark lump next to it. I come to a walk and realize it's a person.
Thank god. I don't have time to look for anyone right now.
It looks like a guy... I mean I guess I didn't really know if it was going to be a guy or girl, but I had just guessed a girl because all the other girls (there are few in Intra) got girl companions.
I'm only a few steps away from my car now, but I still can't see who it is because it's so dark. Not to mention he appears to be sleeping so I can't see his face.
I nudge the strong, male, body sitting on the hard asphalt next to my car with my foot. He doesn't move so I give him a small kick. How some one can sleep through shrieking and gunshots is beyond me. The body groans and moves slightly but he doesn't raise his head. I kick him again.
"Ow," he mutters through his folded arms which rest on his knees, still not looking up, "that hurts."
I roll my eyes.
Really? I had no idea.
"Oh, so you live," I reply smartly with a snort, "I thought I might get lucky and get to go alone."
He looks up at me with electric blue eyes, through his dark brown hair which has fallen into his face and smiles with a sweet, sarcastic smile, "Aw, that would be a shame not being able to see my beautiful face everyday."
I let out a groan as I throw my head back and my hands up.
Seriously?! They had to put me with Jordi?
