Hermione woke up the next morning and groggily sat up, wiping the sleep from her eyes. She looked around, shielding her eyes from the morning sunlight. She looked over to check the time. 8:30? No! She jumped up and ran over to her trunk, extracting her robes and running to the bathroom.

She knew she didn't have time to fix her hair or shower. She brushed through her hair and sprayed perfume in her to cover up the smell. She exited the bathroom and walked to her trunk. She pulled out her bag and threw all the books she needed for morning classes into it. She exited the dormitory and then the common room, heading down to the great hall for breakfast.

She walked through the large doors, her eyes scanning the room for Harry and Ron. She found Draco. She smiled brightly at him, covering up the sleepiness. She found Ron and Harry and went to sit down.

"Are you okay, Hermione? You're never late getting up..." Harry said.

"I'm okay. I'm just a bit sleep deprived is all." She said giving them a reassuring smile.

"Well dig in. We only have about 15 minutes before our first class." Said Ron.

She carefully filled her plate with Scrambled eggs, a strawberry filled tart and a blueberry muffin. She grabbed a goblet of pumpkin juice. She quickly scarfed down her breakfast, getting the hiccups.

"Let's go. Potions in the morning. This day just gets better and better." She sighed. Harry gave her a comforting pat on the back.

"It'll be okay, Hermione." He muttered to her as they descended the stairs to the dungeon. They all walked through the doorway together and made their way to their table and sat down.

Hermione glanced around the room, in hopes of finding Draco. She did. He looked to be conversing with Crabbe, quarreling more like. He gave Crabbe a dirty look and glanced in her direction. He gave her a small smile then looked down at his parchment.

"Alright class, take notes. This is an extremely hard potion. I figure only the know-it-all, Granger, can master." He sneered in her direction. She didn't even bother glancing up.

The class went by pretty quickly. Seamus blew up his cauldron and Neville accidentally spilled some of the potion in his lap, burning almost to his skin through his robes. Only to leave a gaping hole in them.

Their morning classes sped by, and all went better than potions. It was another Hogsmeade trip today so she looked for Harry and Ron. She met with them and they set off toward Hogsmeade. It was a pretty spring day, with a light breeze, making jackets useful, but the sun was shining as they walked. They conversed a little but the trip was mostly silent.

When they reached Hogsmeade, she told them she would meet with them in the Three Broomsticks at 3pm. They nodded and she left. She walked to an alleyway beside the hogs head, where she would meet Draco. He showed up about five minutes after she did. They talked about their day, quidditch and some other things.

"Shall we go walking?" Draco asked.

"I'd be delighted!" She giggled and interlocked arms with him.

They were just about to leave the alleyway when a black cloud formed in front of them, transforming into a human. Dressed in all black with a silver mask in one hand, Lucius Malfoy stood in front of them. He was not pleased.

"I'm disappointed in you, Draco. Fraternizing with the mud blood." He scoffed at his son.

"Watch your mouth." Draco growled.

"Oh, defending the scum, are we? Petrificus Totalus!" He yelled.

The spell connected with both of them. They fell to the ground and blacked out. When they woke, they were on the cold floor of a dark room, chained to posts maybe ten feet apart.
