Previously...

Darkness painted my eyes as I laid unconscious.
I woke up in the living room on the couch.
I looked around silently as I got used to my surroundings.

I look over to my right to see Mijo hovering over me with a concerned expression. He clutched my hand as I shifted on my side.

"I'm glad you are awake. I was getting worried. You alright?" Mijo asks as I got comfortable.

"Yeah, I'm fine. What happened?" I ask.

"You got tazed. Bad. I carried you back inside." Mijo says.

"Where's Chris?" I ask, looking around for him.

"He got arrested while you were out. The cops finally caught up to him." Mijo says sadly.

"No. They're gonna find out and then I'll become a human test dummy! They believe resurrection is crazy talk! They'll lock him away forever. Mijo, what do we do?" I say, gripping his shoulders.

"I don't know, baby girl. I don't know." Mijo says, pulling me into a hug.
I may never get Chris back. What do I do?

Now...

Victoria

After I woke up, Mijo explained to me that him and I needed to see Chris immediately before they locked him up for good and interrogated him. Or worse, I get exposed.

"Hey, grab a jacket and shades. You're gonna need it." Mijo says, packing a duffel bag with clothes.

"What for? And why are you packing?" I ask, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge.

"To keep you hidden from the public eye and these aren't my clothes. These are his clothes. We're gonna bust Chris out."

I drop what I'm doing and turn around shocked.

"What?!? Are you insane?!? That will never work. We're not in a movie. This is real life. We could really get in big trouble and they could lock you, Chris and I up. So don't you even dare, Mijo." I say, scolding him.

"Hey, you have no say in this. You're dead, remember? So it's really up to me right now. You need to worry about staying hidden. If you get caught, it'll be the end. Now get dressed."
Mijo shut me up after that and I did what I was told.

Minutes later....

I got dressed and as I looked in the mirror, I studied my features carefully. I looked like a movie star hiding from the paparazzi. Being covered up like this made me feel hideous.

Like how Frankenstein's monster felt when he was finally exposed to the world. This is my life. But my mind should be on Chris, not me. This is about him.

Mijo comes to my room and he is dressed in a similar manner. As he turns around, I see that he has a gun holster and a blade in his belt loops.

My eyes widened with shock.
"Mijo, what the hell are you doing? Why do you have a gun? And a shank?! Are you out of your mind?!" I scold Mijo as my shock continued.

"These are in case things get risky. We need to be protected." Mijo replies patting his hip.

"There are multiple guards covering the entire yard.  You'll never make it out of there. What are you going expect when you get there? Mijo, you have lost your mind and I will not go through with this." I say disappointed.

Mijo walks downstairs as I follow close behind, angrily. Mijo begins to fiercely breathe through his nostrils and he blows up at me.

"Fine, stay here! But if Chris suffers in prison because he decided to bring YOU back to life, don't blame me. Blame yourself." Mijo says, heading out the door, slamming it in the process.

I jump from the sound of the slam and stand in silence as I sadly ponder Mijo shaming me about Chris.

I felt so helpless. So guilty. I couldn't handle the weight of the situation, so I had dropped to my knees in pure and utter despair and sobbed.

Hot tears fell down my face as I cried. My loud sobs must have been heard by someone, because a pair of arms had wrapped around my shoulders.

It was the maid. She must have heard me crying because she was right there on the floor, comforting me as I silently sob and shiver.

"Marla, what are you doing here? I'm fine, it's okay." I say, sniffling.

"I heard crying and I came to see you, Victoria." She replies.

"It's no big deal, just got my feelings hurt, that's all." I say, wiping my eyes.

"I bet it is more than just that, Vick. Tell Marla what the problem is." Marla suggests.

I sat crisscross and started to explain to Marla because I needed to have a adult conversation for once in my life. I told her everything. Even the weird resurrection thing. After I finished, she just stared at me in pure awe.  I couldn't tell if she was confused or amazed because her mouth and eyes expressed nothing but mixed emotions.

"Marla, do you get it now? That's why I was crying. But I don't know if I should go save the one I love or just sit on the sidelines. I love him so much and I know he does too, that's why he did this for me. For us. Right?" I say, sighing.

"Well, is that what you think? If so, you should go for it." Marla advises.

"You're right. Thank you, Marla." I stand up, helping Marla to her feet as well and give her a big hug to thank her for talking to me and cheering me up.

I felt determined. Determined to save Chris from the cold hard prison world. I grabbed a bag and filled it with Chris and I's clothes I might need in case we need to make a getaway. I picked up my jacket and gave it a good long stare. The hood that was going to shield me from the rest of the world. I felt like I didn't need to hide anymore. People deserve to know and it shouldn't be considered a crime. Chris was suffering without me and that tells me that he really cared. I know that they'll torture him in prison and he won't come out the same if I don't go get him. I take the hood in my hands and go downstairs and try to find a lighter.

I search in all of the drawers and finally become successful. I go outside by the pool and light the hoodie on fire, letting it burn into the wind. When the jacket had finished burning, I collect the remaining ashes and scatter them in the pool. I walk away feeling more confident than before. I never looked back.

Chris is my one and only priority. He is my main focus. And it is my job to save that priority whether or not I'll get exposed to all. I love him enough to put myself at risk.

Time expose my scars.
