Steve is still standing in front of me. Some agents had their weapons out and others were fighting with something that didn't look human. I turn my head to Steve and I see him starting to shake.
- Steve, what's happening? Are you ok? Why are you shaking?- I asked.
- Couldn't you please stop asking questions and be of any help by staying behind us- said Chloe.
- Yes- I said as I walked to were Chloe was crouching behind a turned table.
- Stay right here, do NOT move unless we come for you and if someone tries to hurt you use this- Chloe said while handing me what looked like a taser.
I stayed behind the table for what felt like hours. I heard some footsteps and turned my head to take a peek at the other side of the table. Great! One of those weird looking things, how am I supposed to hurt this thing if maybe it isn't even human! My internal debate stopped me from hearing the footsteps getting closer and closer until I felt something hitting the table. I peeked above the table and saw a golden wolf tearing the creature's head off. OMG, that's Steve! I felt someone grabbing me from behind and turned with the taser ready to attack.
- Relax! It's me- I heard Chloe say.
- You scared me- I told her.
- Nice to know you're not afraid of using that- she said while pointing to the taser.
- Yeah-
- Come on, we gotta leave-
- What about Steve?-
- He's a big boy, he can take care of himself. Let's go-
We stood up and snuck through an almost invisible door. I wouldn't have known it was there even if someone had told me. We were walking through some long and narrow corridors when all of a sudden Chloe stopped, making me collide with her.
- What's wrong?- i asked, she was worryingly quite. I expected some snarky remark seeing the way she has treated me lately, but no, she was awfully quite.
- Can you stop talking and thinking please. I'm trying to concentrate- she said,- We need to run! I'll transform and you hop on my back understood?- Chloe ordered.
- What?! No! We'll go even slower- I responded.
- You want to stay alive right? Then you do as I say- she said with such force I doubt anyone would dare to defy.
- Yes ma'am- I said.
She turned into a wolf and against my better judgement, I jumped onto her back. She started running and I felt like I was flying. She ran and ran, we finally came to a stop at the front of a door. She looked at me and then at the door. I stood there with a confused look on my face until it finally dawned on me what she was trying to say.
- Sorry- i said opening the door.
The director stood at its other side, he turned to look at us and motioned us to come in.
- Hello, Kathryn we need to talk- he said.
He turned his head and that's when i noticed the woman who was standing by a large window. She was tall, slim, with brown hair and dark eyes.
- Who is she?- asked a now human Chloe.
- She's...- the director then turned to look at me,- she's your mother Kathryn-
What?! Did i get that right, my mother! My life is SO messed up. He can't be serious, my mother was standing right in front of me!
- Hi baby- the woman said, she had a thick British accent.
- I, I don't know what to say- I was seriously stuck, I can't believe this.
- I know this is really sudden, but I've waiting my whole life for this moment- my mom said. That sounds so weird.
- I don't anything about you, not even your name. This doesn't feel right- i said with a desperate tone.
- My name is Ryna Alkaev- she answered.
I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, Russian? Really?!
- My parents, your grandparents, were Russian. I was burn and raised in the UK- Ryna informed me.
- Is my dad here too?- I questioned.
- Your dad is coming in a moment, he had a little problem- the director answered.
- Well, we can take a seat while we wait for her father- suggested Chloe.
- Of course- the director said.
We sat in an awkward silence for a while, 10 minutes later we heard the door open and I turned to see a big, bulky man walk in.
- I'm here!- he said sporting a goofy smile.
- Mr. Hilton, there's someone who's been waiting for you- the director said while standing up from his chair and pointing to me.
- My baby girl! I've been waiting for this moment since the second we parted- the man said, his eyes were exactly like mine and they were starting to moist over,- How have you been? Have they been treating you right? Any boys I need to worry about?-
- How about you give me your name first?- I suggested.
- Right, my name is Anthony Hilton, but you can call me daddy- Anthony said.
He seems like a really nice guy, I've only been with him for some minutes and I already like him.
- So- Anthony started as he turned to the director,- are we going to get some family time or what?-
- Of course, as soon as the little dispute outside the door finishes that is- the director confirmed.
- Sir!- we heard as the door was opening.
- Steve! What brings you here?- questioned the director.
- The code has been handled and it's safe to go outside now- informed Steve.
- And this lad is?- Tony (my dad) asked turning to Steve.
- Steve, sir. Defense section, clearance level 10- he answered.
- Impressive! At your age I was barely in level 2. What connection do you have with my daughter?- Tony questioned.
- I met her some months ago and we became friends. I was the one who brought her here after they tried to take her-
Tony turned to look at me with suspicion in his eyes.
- That's true, we're just friends- I said with a nervous smile.
- Well then, everything's alright and I'd like some quality time with my family- Tony said.
- Right, you may leave just bring Kathryn back in a week. We must start with her training- the director said.
- Honey let's go- my parents stood up and motioned for me to join them.
- Ok- i said as a i was standing up.
We left the room and headed outside.
- Where are we?- I asked.
- In the outskirts of New York, would you like to go to the city or somewhere else?- My mom asked me.
- I've never been to New York City, do you mind if we stay there?- I suggested.
- Of course we don't, I myself love the big apple!- my dad exclaimed.
- Well, it's settled. This is going to be the best week of your life baby- said my mom.
