The next day I woke up, my eyes still closed, to the movement of Brendan, my current pillow. I listened, slightly pretending I was asleep, to the conversation between him and Niall. By the sound of it, they were talking about something to do with me. Their muffled voices spoke a few short sentences.

“Niall, I think I'm in love with her… again…” I heard Brendan whisper, his movement turning slowly.

“I'm pretty sure you’re not the only one.” Niall sighed.

“What do you mean?”

“Haven’t you seen the way Louis and Harry have been looking at her? And I'm not even mentioning Jack. He’s called at least five times everyday. I keep telling him she's not here. She can’t handle that right now.”

“Wait. Harry too? I mean Louis I understand he’s looking for comfort, but Harry?”

“Yeah. Weren’t you there last night? The girl Harry brought home was basically begging him to sleep with her, and as soon as Ashlynn went upstairs he told her to go home. That’s not like him at all.”

“Wow… well what about you mate? Anything you want to tell me?”

“No. I mean I'm glad her and me are friends and all that, but I kind of like Maddie. I got to talk to her a lot last night after the movies were over. We were the only ones awake. You and Ashlynn fell asleep so early. It was weird.”

“Yeah.”

“Anyways, I’m going to go grab us some bagels, want one?”

“… Do you even know me at all?”

“Ok I will grab the bagels. You try to get some more sleep.”

“I will.”

There was silence for a while after, and just as I was deciding if I could get up or not I heard the subtle snoring of Brendan’s sleep. I peeked out at the room, and quickly slid out of Brendan’s arms, the room was almost empty, with Maddie rolled up in a blanket on the floor, and Harry casually sleeping on one of the lounges. Zayn, Liam, and Louis must have moved somewhere else, because they were nowhere in sight.

Once I crept up the stairs and slipped into my room, I got changed into some comfy clothes. Being such good friends with all the guys meant I could practically wear whatever I want around them, so I was deciding whether or not I should wear an oversized shirt and underwear, or loose tank and some soft shorts. I finally decided on the oversized shirt, before tying my long, brown hair up in a messy bun.

I grabbed a shirt and shorts from my closet for Maddie, and then raced back down the stairs. The kitchen was nearly full, everyone there except for Harry and Brendan, who were still asleep. The bagels were on the counter, and I tossed Maddie the clothes before grabbing a bagel and then sliding into the living room. I had grabbed a regular bagel with nutella, and began to wave it in Brendan’s face. He still didn’t wake up, so I softly punched him in the arm.

“Brendan get up!” I yelled in his face. He was still asleep, and I knew the one word that would wake him up. “Brendan I have a Bagel!” I teased, and he immediately woke up followed with a yawn and small smile as he muttered the word “Bagels?”

I kicked Harry, and all three of us piled back into the crowded kitchen, grabbing our food before everyone moved to the backyard where we had a picnic in one of the gardens. We sat there for at least half the day just smiling, talking, and laughing together. Maddie had seemed to join our little family, and in the middle of our picnic I remembered something.

Earlier when I had woke up, I hadn’t really card about the conversation or really realized what they had been saying, but sitting in the grass there, surrounded by my friends I understood. Jack did care. He had called, and yet I didn’t seem to mind. There were three boys in this house who liked me as well, and I didn’t even think about it. All because I was happy. Truly, amazingly, wonderfully happy. I didn’t have any major issues and for once everything seemed great.

So there we sat for basically the rest of the day, before we all went crazy and the alcohol got out. We drank until it seemed like everything was blurry and weird. At this point I think everyone was drunk, and we all went crazy running around the outside of our house.

At one point, I got tired and dropped to my knees, before lying down in the soft, cool grass. It had gotten dark, and the stars were out, so there I lie looking up at the night and the sky, pointing at the different stars. I burst out laughing, and not long after, I was joined by a blurry figure. The person took my hand and held it tightly. It felt good to have it there, it felt right. I smiled wider, and the figure began to point out the stars with me.

We fell asleep, hand in hand, and everything felt good. In the morning I woke up and turned to face the person. I smiled before muttering his name “………………..”
