A week later I was thrown into the busy life of college, and Zayn had made his way over to the mansion as well. I was too busy studying and attending classes to really talk to them, but I made an effort to spend at least an hour a day with all of them. Time seemed to speed up faster and faster, and mid term testing had begun a few weeks after that.
Fortunately I passed with all A+’s and that started my rise to the best student in my class. I sharpened my focus on school, and within a month or two, I had completely forgotten about the whole Jack situation. Him and I hadn’t spoken since the airport, and I wasn’t going to be the one to break the ice. I kept watching his videos though, every week.
Last week he did another Ask Jack video, and someone asked him where I was. I saw the sadness in his eyes flash for a second before he quickly said, “She's just away right now but don’t worry she’ll be back.” I smiled at that. It was sweet of him to say that, and to be honest I was longing to be back with him. But I forgot about it and pushed it out of my mind, and before long the first break for holidays was here.
Almost the entire band was now at the house, Lou was MIA, but Eleanor was there. I talked a lot to Eleanor and she really helped with everything. She was actually really nice to me for once, not like her usual self. I think she was missing Lou a lot and we both could easily relate with our guy troubles.
Her and I grew close and we were kind of best friends by the time Lou came. I heard the doorbell ring early in the morning and trudged down the stairs to open it.
“Ashlynn!” Lou screamed before giving me a massive hug, “I haven’t seen you in forever!”
“LOUIS!” I yelled so loudly everyone in the house ran into the room.
Eleanor ran over and they embraced into a full on make out. Everyone back out of the room at that, and I went on the Vespa and grabbed everyone coffees. As I rushed into Starbucks I ran into someone, and as I looked up to apologize I realized who it was.
“Holy shit. Ashlynn?” He said shaking his head, “How long’s it been?”
“Wow. Brendan, It’s been 5 years now?”
“Yeah just about.”
“How’ve you been?”
“Good mate, what about you?”
“I’m great, what are you doing here?”
“I go to Hopkins right now,” he said with a smile.
“Really? Wow so do I”
“That’s so weird. Where are you staying?”
“A house about five minutes from the campus. What about you?”
“I’m in a dorm, but I'm looking at moving out and finding somewhere.”
“Well you could always stay at mine. We have a ton of room over there.”
“We?”
“Oh yeah, you remember Lou, Harry and them, right?”
“Wow they're here too.”
“Yeah haha it feels like some kind of little reunion.”
“I know wow, anyways I got to run. I’ll catch up with you later.”
We exchanged phone numbers before he rushed off somewhere. I took my place in the long line and waited as I slowly approached the counter. The lady behind the counter gave me a bright smile which slowly turned into a frown as she took my long order.
By the time I got back to the house, everyone was sitting around the table about to eat breakfast. I passed around the coffees and then we dug into the food. We had fresh bagels from Panera, and they tasted amazing. I grabbed a cinnamon crunch bagel and then bit into the sweet and spicy sensation. The flavor exploded in my mouth at every bite.
