"You're insane. You're both insane."
It had taken Violet five minutes just to convince Blake to let the two of them through the door - five minutes and a hell of a log of shameless begging - and if she had seen that as a chore, then she'd had no idea what was in store for her when she tried to explain the night's events to her best friend. She had, of course, neglected to tell her friend about why she was walking the streets so late in the first place, but she hadn't really seen any need to disclose that information. Instead, she had opted to start the story from when she saw what she had presumed to be a shooting star in the sky.
To Violet's frustration, Ash helped very little in the matter of proving the legitimacy of her account of the past few hours. In fact, as soon as they had walked through the door, Ash's attention was stolen by the multitude of expensive objects and decorations scattered throughout Blake's house. Violet cringed at the recent memory of her new acquaintance, who had taken the liberty of stealing some of Blake's clothes, attempting to smash in the screen of a TV so that she could 'get the little people out.' For all their wisdom, the gods of Athena had yet to invent such things as televisions and cameras. At least not to Ash's knowledge.
And so Violet was left alone with the task of trying to sound at least semi-believable to Blake, who wasn't buying a single word of what her friend said. In all honesty, the only reason Violet was trying so hard was because the side effects of Ash's channelling still lingered - if only by a thread.
"I mean seriously Violet, a god? That's what you expect me to believe?" Blake rubbed at her temples with a sigh, still not fully recovered from the drowsiness brought on by being unwillingly woken in the early hours of the morning by a friend she was beginning to question the sanity of. "Look, I don't know if this is a joke or if you are in dire need of a doctor, but either way I think the last place you should be is here. That goes for your new friend, too." The two girls glanced at Ash, who was perched on the kitchen counter and inspecting Blake's iPhone with eyes full of wonder.
"Come on, Blake, have I ever lied to you?" Violet tried desperately to reason with Blake, but to no avail.
"Uh, yes? How about that time when you told me the girl my ex cheated with was ugly and only had half her teeth? Or when you told me that the deep red lipstick I had on definitely went well with the dress I wore for my birthday and yet, when I looked back through the pictures from that day, I found out that it definitely didn't go. Or when-"
"Alright, alright, I get it. But all that is just... stuff. This is serious. I mean she literally fell from the sky and left a ten foot deep crater in the woods." Even as she spoke, Violet knew how surreal everything she said sounded, but she had an urge forged from faux obedience to keep fighting Ash's corner.
"Or, more likely, she fell into an existing crater because of how obviously drugged up she is. If you want my advice: go home, ditch that one, and get a good night's sleep. You can call me in the morning - when I've had at least ten hours in bed, that is." Blake made to go walk them to the door, but then suddenly Ash was standing in front of her. Blake gasped and staggered backwards. "Jesus, don't sneak up on me like that."
"Sorry about that, princess." Ash spoke in a tone dripping with condescension. "Only, I couldn't help but overhear, and it sounds like you're having trouble taking your friend's word for it. So I'll just have to show you myself." Ash smiled then, and it was the same smile she sported right before she teleported Violet to the edge of the crater. However, before Violet could even consider doing anything about it, Ash had taken hold of Blake's shoulder and then suddenly they vanished.
