“You are the thunder and I am the lightning. And I love the way you know who you are and to me it's exciting.”

Chapter 13:

-Liam's Pov-

"It took me by surprise when…" I started and paused to see Francis paying all her attention to me. Her eyes were blinking in an adorable way making my heartbeat faster, "I saw you at the signing. I was dying to see you again."

"What surprised me was that you actually remembered me." Francis tucked a piece of hair behind her ears and gave me that kind of smile I'd die for. "And what really got to me was that fame didn't ruin you. You’re still that innocent boy.” She pinched my cheeks. I rolled my eyes in a sheepish way. “Thanks for giving me a second chance and hearing me out.”

A shade of red appeared on her cheeks, and her blue eyes never lost their sparkle.

I remembered how we were in the past – I was trying to get her to love me – She was trying to avoid me and I thought she didn't like me at all and I was wrong. Today we found each other together, thinking we're the only people in the world that exists.

"What are we?" I asked.

"I don't know." She shrugged and looked down to her knees, "What do you want us to be?"

"I don't know." I mimicked her voice, "Doesn't it make it obvious?"

"What makes it obvious?"

"That I want to be your boyfriend? I want you to be my girlfriend, being able to say that I'm yours and you're mine." I stopped rowing the boat and held Francis' hands, "I don't want you to let me go. I know I won't let you go. Because I finally have you..."

Francis blushed madly this time, “Sometimes I feel that I don’t deserve your love – I rejected you so many times. Twenty two times is a lot of numbers! I didn’t know you were counting.” She laughed.

"You do deserve it. I can’t be spiteful towards you for something that happened when we were amateur, kids, teens... we didn't know what love really was. So I'm glad we're together now, because now we know about love, and I know what I want, and what I want is you."

"And what I want is you” She poked my chest and giggled.

"So... do you want to be my girlfriend?"

Once again, I found myself asking Francis the same question I asked her like four years ago - a question that was answered by a simple 'no' and a 'stop asking that' which made my heart ache and think that she was never going to be mine.

"Yes” Francis pressed her lips against mines. Yes! There will never be a twenty three times!
