Flashing lights were stuck in my mind, with the sickening pool of blood around Urik. I stayed and watched in horror until they came and took his body away.

I laid in the ally, my clothes wet and I colder than ever before without Urik's warmth.
The snow had turned to a sleet, soaking me and causing my face to sting. I feel into a deep sleep.

"Girl! Wake up!" A hideous voice crowed. I felt extremely tired and hot....my lungs hurt and I didn't even want to breathe.
The woman grabbed my hand and pulled me onto my feet. "You little trespasser! Sleeping in my ally!" Very suddenly she felt my forehead. "You've done got yourself sick!"
I tried to protest but my throat hurt too badly, and grief was still sharp in my chest.
She half dragged half carried me into her home and forced me to sit by the fire. A few moments later I heard her dialing the phone and the words "orphanage".
Pretty soon I was being shaken awake. A nice looking woman with odd Amber eyes led me outside and put me in a car. I had never been in one before.
Fever burned my cheeks and terror numbed me but I didn't care.
Nothing mattered anymore. After all....there was no other way I could survive without Urik. I had no choice but to go to the orphanage.
