Nick POV
I roll my towel and walk briskly across the street, back to the hotel. I quickly change into thick, wooly clothing and call up the limo to pick me up.
15 minutes later, I get a call. The limo driver is downstairs. I exit my hotel room and walk to the front. I get in and give him the directions to the nearest rink, Kendall ice arena. We drive away and I slowly drift away into sleep as I can almost feel the cold awaiting for me, penetrating my bones.
Isabella POV
Today it takes only 15 minutes to get to the rink from school. I manage to get all the green lights and luckily, there were no accidents on 152nd street, which is the usual. I pull up into an empty spot and walk fast, almost running to escape this unbearable heat. As soon as I pull the heavy door open, a gust of cold air blows and refreshes my sweaty face.
After I tie up my scratched skates, I walk out the lockeroom and step on the fresh sheet of ice. I'm at home, I think to myself. I wave to a couple of my friends and my coach before I put my bag down on the boards and start to warm up with strokes and single jumps. Time goes on and I begin to do my double jumps, landing all of them. After that, I do my double axel and triple salchow jumps, which each took me about a year of intense training to perfect. I run my program without my spins a couple times and take a 5 minute break.
Nick POV
After what seemed like an eternity, we finally reach the rink and the driver drops me off at the front. I enter the building and immediately freezing air hits my face. I'm a little stunned. Shaking my head, I approach the girl at the window and give her 11$. She gives me a ticket and says to make a right to the skate shop and get my skates. I follow her orders and arrive at a disorganized counter; the guy gave me hockey skates, which are apparently better than the standard plastic blue ones. I put them on and step on the ice. I'm a little wobbly but I manage to stand up on two feet without falling on my ass. I skate for about 20 minutes until my feet start aching. I step off the ice and sit down on the blue bench, my feet throbbing. A minute later, the zamboni comes out and all the red jacket guys scream,
"OFF THE ICE!".
This looks like it'll probably take about 15 minutes, given that it's moving so slow. So, I get up and go to the other rink, the blue one across the middle. That's when I see her.
Isabella POV
After I got back on the ice, I started to work on my spins. My favorite one, the layback spin, is the easiest one for me since I have a flexible back. I edge into it and drop my torso and head back, extending my right leg outwards. I turn for 8 revolutions and then change into a haircutter, bringing the extended leg close to my head. After 4 revs, I pull it all the way over my head, into a fully extended scorpion, called a biellman in skating terms. I'm spinning so fast that I can feel my face pushed against my left side and my surroundings are blurry, moving 100 miles per hour. I exit the spin and out of the corner of my eye, I see a boy looking at me with an admiring stare.
